I have 18 watches in my collection. Some get more wrist time than others but I try to rotate them. I have one more that I'm looking to acquire and then I think I'm done.

Depends on what you collect. Some pieces are more collectible then wearable.

There is no answer

One casual, one semi-casual, one or two formal and one or two semi-formal.
I don't have that many, but anymore than that would be too many (for me).

19 Rolex, 1 JLC, 1 Seiko.

The collector side of me says there is no such thing as too many. As a watch enthusiast, I have six in the box at home that I focus on and wear, and rotate back to the bank monthly.

3 Rolex,
2 Panerai
2 IWC

I've had most every SS Rolex in past. I end up wearing IWC and Panerai most of the time. I think 2 watches for me is ideal.

If one is "collecting" the sky is the limit. But if one actually wears them, that's another story. I used to have about 7 in regular rotation, but the problem was I was wearing watches I loves less than 7 weeks out of 52. So I cut back to a few iconic pieces (sub, daytona, Speedy) and a field watch, so I get to wear and enjoy them much more often.

I am comfortable with my 6 Rolexes, 4 Tudors, 2 GS's and a few "lesser" pieces like Oris and B&M. It's a lot but I am not financially strapped and enjoy wearing them. I have my favs but they all get worn.

I try not to think about a number. Makes me feel like I've got some OCD problem.

I have 3 Rolex, 1 Omega, 1 AP, 1 Patek, 1 Hublot.
7 makes it perfect for 7 days a week, anything more is too many

I'm looking at 9, which is one shy of what is needed since my watch box has 10 slots

Milgauss zblue - current daily
two tone GMT - relief daily
Shinola Runwell moonphase - change-up/weekend watch
Citizen Eco-Drive - hiking watch
YG Tiffany Oscar Waldan - dress watch

I have 4 others currently on the bench (Raymond Weil, Breitling, Bulova, Seiko)

yeah, we're gonna need to know the details of those 30

This is like going to the Rolex AD and asking if they have any SS watches and they say we have 30 and then walks away

I have 2 watches in my rotation and a G-Shock. More watches will come in time but I never plan on having a large collection. It's not just for financial reasons. I want to give each watch proper wrist time and build memories with each piece.

I just don't think you end up appreciating all your watches when you have a huge collection.

I think more than 7 is too many. That is the perfect number to rotate daily without having some sit in the box for prolonged period of time.

There is only 1 wrist you can wear a watch on at a time. I used to have 20+ as well - it was a big big waste of money

I agree with this.
The only time it is too many is if the funds are needed for something else that is more important, or if the watch no longer sings to you even after not strapping it on for too long.
If neither is the case, then keep collecting!
