From gauging general incomings across various forums and talking to various ADs, I would agree that there has been a decent supply of BLNRs.

Only 16 months to go chuckle. That said I did get a Daytona in that amount of time for the same AD.

If it was possible you could have it, I’ve bought a lot of watches from these shops since I was 18, the plan was a Pepsi then a new day date for my 50th but that’s been scrapped and now I’m waiting for a rose gold nautilus or the rose gold aquanaut travel time, what ever comes first, the last Rolex I got was a sub C date and a rose gold datejust for my wife, that was December 2017 and I waited six weeks for the sub, a years wait is realistic in some cases but any longer and I start looking at other things, the passion I had for Rolex is seriously dwindling.

I sometimes get distracted too, but I always go back to rolex in the end. The current trend is going to stay, unless PM is the way to go. I am tempted sometimes, a white gold sub is so pretty.

I think location plays a factor. Hot markets like SoCal it's even harder to get. With lots of VIP's and areas where even kids can afford these watches the demand is even harder and makes the watches really hard to get unless you have a relationship. Maybe in smaller / quiter markets you can get lucky enough to get one

I can guarantee you that no dealer in the U.S.A is only getting 2-3 Daytona's per year. It doesn't make any sense to send that few model to a dealer. My AD receives them on a consistent basis.

If they are getting all of this stock of SS Daytona’s, then why has there been such a shortage in delivering them to their customers. I know individuals with watch collections that are in the hundreds of thousands of dollars and one is still on a wait list from his AD that he spend at least $100,000 at in the past 5-6 years. Granted he only got on the list a year ago and he will not pay over MSRP. Still waiting.

Last time when I said I saw the shipments of watches between a period of 3 years ago and recently, this forum wanted photographic evidence straight from the AD's screen

Let's just say I have very close sources to the grey and AD world. I have my finger on the pulse and I get my watches for the market price currently traded at. Not the end-user and marked up prices on Chrono.

I used to feel the same way - even though I've bought a few watches from them I never got the call from either of my local AD after a year and a half (if you call a 1.5 hour drive local).

But, in my case I broke down this past April and traded a couple of watches for the Pepsi from a small-time flipper whom I've known for several years, and since it's a forever watch I don't mind paying the extra. While I actually made about $3000 on increased value over what I'd originally paid for my trades, I got about $2,000 less than current retail in value on them (but avoided being totally scammed by selling to strangers).

BTW, Off Topic - I just sent my brother a lovely Scurfa Diver One PVD Automatic today, as a gift for his birthday coming up in 2 weeks (one of 200 made). It runs +5 to +7 sec/day and I know he'll be very happy with it. The PVD finish was quite nice, and the sapphire crystal was a nice touch too.

I'm going to send him a NATO with a black and yellow color scheme for his Christmas stocking to go with it. It'll be due for a service in a couple of years, but he is poor so I'm planning to send him the money for that too.

Good Job!

Go to a watch trading show and you can be sure to get the best prices. Prices will deviate from 50-200 USD at most for Rolex watches. You will also get their WhatsApp/WeChat and the newest sales prices. They do "fire sales" sometimes where the numbers make sense if you're in the market for a model.

I like attending them as you get a good feel where the market is at and what's out there. I especially like to attend the one or two booths that hold 20+ RM's. I'm surprised I haven't drooled on their glass-box before.

That’s all.

In other words, it’s not the AD’s lack of inventory, it’s your status as a non-valued customer. That’s what they’re saying.
I believe this now.

Only ones to visit are those hosted in Hong Kong. You see all the biggest grey dealers from around the world descend in that "hall". They're the guys that all the newbie Rolex purchasers "hate", but the same guys they loved 5 years ago (in terms of Rolex's only).

Watchtradingco (which has been posted here numerous times for their instagram-posts on Hulk, Daytona etc.) goes to that show every time.

Thank you for the insight. I have seen the posts from Watchtradingco and they always seem to have a ton of watches.

Interesting feedback from AD about SS sports

For what it’s worth, I was in my AD the other day and expressed a general interest in a SS sub, GMT, etc. and was told not to worry, they’re coming. Was a change in tone at least, since most of the time all I hear is how impossible they are to get. I’m already in there on a semi regular basis anyway, so she had no reason to offer that unless it was a genuine belief.

There are flukes, we’ve seen them on TRF “hey I walked in with no history and got a BLRO” but, I don’t buy it.

This is what the AD's are telling people who aren't dropping stacks at their stores. They get far more than 1-2 daytonas a year- they're just trying to make you not feel so bad.

Received a Subdate, CHNR, TT SD, James Cameron, and Batman in the last 12 months from my AD where I live in the winter. They said I’ll never get a Daytona or Skydweller. Last week I went north to my daughters wedding and stopped into the AD there to purchase an 214270, and this AD hasn’t had anything for me in years. The SA says “hold on I have something for you” and pulls out a Skydweller blue dial. Go figure.

I go into Rolex South Coast, Laguna Beach (nicest people in comparison), Swiss Watch in Brea, I bought from Gearys in BH in 2016 and nothing since. I have contacts at OC Tanner in SLC, UT and Las Vegas. I have my name down for a Daytona and I am #40 on the list now. Only moved up two slots in the last year.

I would be happy to add a 116610LV and the Daytona to my current set up. I have a feeling Basel 2020 will release a black/red GMT

Money wasn’t an issue. I was offered a bundle that included an all gold Daytona and others totaling 63,000. I agreed only if they would deliver them at the same time, they wouldn’t. So they know I am willing to make a purchase. But I am not willing to drop an enormous amount of money just to sit on the damn list. I want immediate delivery of the watch I want.

Re: Daytona. When I asked my SA for a black dial Daytona in February he told me I was #14 on the list and expect it within a year. I got it last week in nine months. Big dealers get way more than 2-3 a year.
