Not one penny over MSRP, and that’s only if you’re in the unique and privileged position of not having to worry about money/income.

Question, did you buy over msrp? Answer honestly don’t be shy. A lot of people who do buy over msrp are shy about

And when this comes crashing down by years end they’ll completely deny ever making such statements Its honestly kind of hilarious people claiming a non essential luxury good will ‘always be sold above MSRP’. The first of its kind in the history of our entire economy

For all you sages with the wisdom to see in the future and predict what the price of this watch is going to be, I salute you.

Now, let's look at the OP's question. Should he buy a BLRO for 15k now or wait? Hmmm, I don't know. If I could see the future and know, for a fact, that the watch is coming back down to MSRP, then obviously I would advise waiting.

But...I can't. The only thing I can do is look backwards, not forwards. So let's look back, shall we? Well, gosh. When you do that, you see that, over the years, Rolex watches have held their value quite nicely. And, would you look at that, they've survived the quartz craze of the 70's, the recession in 2008, and pretty much everything in between...and after.

So, it would seem this watch is going to hold its value pretty well. The only thing I can see that would change that is if Rolex decides to flood the market with it, lowering it's value. I don't see that happening. What I can see happening is some fluctuation in price in the short term with a fairly steady increase over the long term.

It doesn't answer your question, but then again, there is no answer to your question. Only you can decide if it's worth it or not. Good luck,

I think most of us are looking back to 2016-2017 when the hulks couldn’t sell for $7,500k and the BLNRs were $8,500.

Ding Ding Ding

I like how these people want to bring up what’s ‘normal’ but only focus on the past 4 years and not the 40 before it when Rolex prices were at MSRP or slightly under.

15k seems fair considering what the market has been over the past couple of years, but as many have said on here I would wait this out to see what happens. Likely will drop less and less each on going week.

Exactly..a mass produced non essential luxury good at that. Don’t get me wrong, it’s great we can expect these watches to preserve value over time (and in some cases see some appreciation) if we buy at or close to MSRP but expecting 50% premiums to last through a global recession is just ignorance.

Is it fair though? I completely understand supply and demand and the market dictating the prices, but at a certain point in past year or 2 I think we lost any concept of the economics of it and it became the blind leading the blind.

I’d be delighted if people did get them.

Certainly around here (UK) I still don’t think that will happen as a rule. The demand for Pepsi’s at retail will remain extremely strong and supply will still remain below demand. That’s my prediction.

Perhaps more likely where you are in the world?

i wouldnt even take one at retail right now. i remember what happened to the vintage Daytona market in 2008. everything today is way more inflated today. the drop is going to be steep. the grey market is a cartel and they are trying to maintain high asking prices. once that fails and a few begin offering lower to clear their stock, these prices will collapse and they all race to clear stock first. dont be fooled, theyre is a ton of supply out there and now no demand. anyone who doesnt think we are going to MSRP, at best, for all models (maybe the 116500 trades at a 5-10% premium) is fooling themselves or talking their book.

I would love to get back to the -15%Submariner/Sea Dweller days.

I also agree with you that the DaytonaC will be an anomaly, I have a hunch it will hold at or slight above MSRP no matter what happens. Same for Patek 5711.
