I’ve had that same dilemma in the past, and carried both at one time. But in the end, when I went back to only one professional YG piece, I chose the sub. It’s just so well done color wise, and a bit more versatile imo, + blue dials are my favorite. The GMT green goes well with the watch, but in the end I’d choose to have a ‘better’ green, like the hulk. That would look spectacular imo! The gmt is a gorgeous watch for sure, but that green is very flat. If I were keeping both, I’d keep the green, but if choosing a YG gmt as a one and only professional YG piece, I’d go with the black dial version. (Hope the YG gmt reappears)

It's only personal opinion, but I loathe that green. It doesn't match the gold at all. I wouldn't wear it if it was given to me, although I guess if it was I would just have the dial swapped to black. At the end of the day go with what YOU like though, my opinion is just that, only my opinion.

The green dial GMT us stunning in person. I'm still kicking myself for not buying one a few years ago. I was skeptical to even try it on because gold usually looks horrible on me. Anyway, when I tried it on, it looked spectacular. The price was unreal, too. I am so mad!

Well it seems to be the popular choice to go with the Green GMT.
I do already have the 116613 Blue two-tone so I still get the enjoyment of that dial. Plus, they aren't going to discontinue it anytime soon so if I miss the blue sub that much, I may even be able to pick it up cheaper given the current state of the economy. |

That's a tough one. I'd wear the blue sub more but the green GMT has a special factor to it that's hard to pass up. If I had to choose one, I'd probably go sub.

Prefer the Sub in this comparison.
GMT with gold, black bezel, and green dial is just a bit too much of colors that don't mix the best IMO. Still a nice looking watch but not my preference of color combos. |

I think the GMT is more useful but prefer the sunburst blue over the green.

That green 116718... my biggest Rolex regret not picking it up when it was still widely available.

The sub has the advantage on paper with the sunburst dial and the glidelock.
But I have to go with the GMT. It's been my personal opinion from day one that green works a lot better with yellow gold. I also much prefer the black bezel on the GMT. Rolex should make the Hulk in yellow gold. |

GMT for me, that green dial goes better with the gold case/bracelet.

I have the green dial 116718. I have probably owned 10 different Rolex watches, this by a far and away gets the most random praise from strangers.

Not a fan of the "pool table" green GMT dial. There is good reason Rolex discontinued it.
YG Sub/Blue dial. Call me biased, I wear one every day. |

I had the YG GMT - the green just didn't sit well with me at the time. I sold it within 2 weeks back in 2012 (only watch I sold in the last 10 years). The past 18 months, I've thought about getting another all-gold GMT - but I've been looking at the full RG GMT instead.

I have both. The Sub is a keeper for generations. The GMT no so much.

The gmt is great but for me the 116618. The blue sunburst is brilliant and it has glidelock. Never take it off.
