So you will get scratches and the watch will get scratches. One of you will outlive the other. It will be the watch. Wear your watch, don’t let it wear you.

I am not a fan of polishing watches. They take the metal down to the level of the scratch to "remove" the scratch. You can only do it three times or so and then not enough metal left to polish. So if scratches bother on the clasp. a little tape is no big deal to me. I have done it but found it too much of a hassle so I just accept the scratches.

First thing I do in the AM when I get into my office is I place a small piece of clear nylon tape over my clasp. This is to avoid the desk and keyboard rubbing all day at work. Other than that I’m very aware of where I put my hands.

I’m with you OP! Maybe just a little more OCD as I also custom cut pieces for the PCL portion of each link. (I can already feel the judgement and eye rolling haha) Having worn brushed oyster bracelets for years, I never worried about scratches at all but for some reason I really wanted to keep the PCLs looking sharp! I did the same for my CHNR as well. It really doesn’t take away from the PCL shine and you don’t even notice it if your not looking at the bracelet up close as a few pieces are a little short.

This is patently ridiculous. Next thing we know people will be putting face masks on their watches ‘just in case.’
Signed, Very happy to be a “hater.” By the way, where’s the “9:1” ratio cat at now? |

I use a small piece of Kapton tape on my clasps while at work, it’s note clear but I only have it while at the office so my desk diving doesn’t not beat up the clasp, at the end of day i toss the small piece

If you're happy with it, nothing else matters.

I understand the covering of the phones...but watches. I never really understood that one. You buy them to wear them. If you're that worried about the condition leave it in the safe maybe?? But at the end of the day its your money and your watch. You gotta do what makes you happy.

No plastic for me. I'd rather have scratches to be honest.

The scratches on my watch represent it's journey with me. having bought it new, they are all marks from our journey together, and we do everything together. It has scratches, lots.. but that is what makes it my watch.

I recently did the same thing to my new Bluesy. I think its a great idea. Especially if it gives you piece of mind when you wear your watch. I actually went a step further. I purchased a pre-cut kit and did the entire watch. So far I like it. But if it ends up getting dirty and looks bad I can just remove it. No harm no foul. This is just a more durable version of what Rolex put on the watch when it left the factory. So like so many have said before, its your watch, you do what makes you happy.
