Explorer II too large for your wrist? That really eliminates a lot of watches. Too bad it didn't work out. Good luck with the sub!

As exciting as that was, I had since learned that the explorer 2 is just a bit too large for my wrist and have developed a purchase history/relationship with a different nearby AD and am close to getting a Sub Date from them.

Even though it was a bummer that I still have to wait for my first Rolex, it was exhilarating to get a call from an AD with an offer to buy a SS model. That was a first for me and made me realize that I think the AD game makes me enjoy the purchase a bit more. I totally get the thrill of the hunt and think once I get my first kill under my belt, I’ll be chasing that feeling forever.

Hopefully my next post here will be with pictures of my new Sub Date on wrist. =]

The harder you get or in another words the waiting is at lest half of the pleasure getting that particular model you want, search and hunt.

And that creates (sometimes) a stronger connection with your watch.

Maybe try to get the Polar? I think people are saying it seems a little smaller than it is.

This forum going downhill. To OP, you were thrilled to get a call, but passed on a watch? Where is the thrill? The thrill should be from a purchase (same as back when watches were worth less than MSRP).

To others on this thread, what is wrong with NOT spending 10k on a watch? Not like I sit there all day thinking about the lists I am on. I get a call. So be it. If the watch doesn’t pan out, I pass.

How could I forget?!

As a new father, it was a very special Father’s Day surprise.

It was my first time getting a call from an AD with an offer to buy a new SS sport model and as a rookie to this collecting game, it was exciting. Just my honest reaction to the moment. Sorry if my experience is taking TRF “downhill”. Didn’t mean to ruin anything for anybody.

I understand your post and feeling of excitement to get the call or text. Got the text 2 days ago and at 48 years of age was excited as all hell. My Second Rolex and not sure when that feeling will pass with future purchases. Huge congrats on the Sub and fatherhood!!

Making a drama out of nothing, it’s not as if the AD is stuck with the watch, there’s plenty of appetite to purchase this model.
