But I suspect this is all about social media and someone getting that pic with a RM or Daytona on their feed. Ugh. |

No thank you. But if it works for others, let them.

Let’s face it, this is targeted at the insufferable Instagram crowd. You know, the type that rents a jet for an hour so they can do photo shoots but never leave the ground. The type that poses for photos in front of somebody else’s lambo.
Basically, it’s largely for people that can’t afford to buy. Those talking about using as a test before buying will be in the minority (I actually think it’s quite a good idea). |

Luxury accessory rentals targeted at women have been a thing for quite a while now. Think Hermès Birkin and Kelly handbags; Louboutin shoes etc etc. Flaunt it even if you haven’t got it.
So this is the male, luxury watch version of that. I imagine, it will be popular with the Instagram posers or “influencers” as they like to call themselves.

I'm sure there is a market if they can insure and have large enough deposits.
People rent jewellery for award shows etc. But normally more high end than these models. So why not. |

The obvious answer is no. Another answer would be why? I don't have the kind of money that would allow me to pay for something that wasn't mine, effectively giving my money away. I can only afford what I own.

I wouldn't rent as I buy watches new and keep them but I can see there being a market for such watches. People rent cars and change them every two or three years so why not watches.

I would hope they have an experienced watchmaker on staff, otherwise half their watches will return with superfake movements or other "new" bits. . .

I’ll be that guy and say yes ...
I’d have to see how the math works out, but with an option to buy I see this as a way to try out models that I’d be interested in purchasing without committing to buy. I can see it being beneficial especially with PM references again, provided the overall cost isn’t too much to “rent”. |

Before a knee jerk no reaction, I think it would depend on cost and if there's a 'wait list'?
Tongue in cheek, if I could rent a Daytona for $50 per month with no wait, why not? More seriously, if it allowed me to try on a watch for a month, even if it cost me $500 a month, I'd rather do that then have to pick watches sight unseen allowing me to go through all the hot watches and PM watches to really know how much I like everything. To that note, I'm incredibly grateful for amazing friends who will let me borrow their watches lightly for a few weeks at a time to help me decide what gets added next to the collection. |

I wouldn’t do it. But I think it might help undecided people, they could rent and wear the watch they intend to buy to see if they really like it.

I would not, but it certainly beats spending $10,000 on a watch that you quickly determine does not work for you.

My answer is 'no way'.
However I will say that borrowing a friend's new sub for a week really helped me figure out and clarify a few issues.

Good idea as judged by the many posts regarding buyer's remorse like the watch is too big, or the watch is too small, or I prefer the other bezel, or I can't see the dials, or I can't bond with the watch, or the lugs are too wide, or the color is too boring, or it's too blingy, or it's uncomfortable, or is this watch the best investment, etc...
