Too many other options in this type of watch. I would go JLC slightly pre-owned and get as good or better watch that is actually resalable.

Love the watch but would only buy if you regularly wear a suit/tie to work.

For sure VC should be in the mix. I would add Breguet as well. If I ever wanted a true pm dress watch those two would be at the top of my list.

Sorry just not a fan at all. There are many other companies that just do a moonphase on a strap much better.

If you like it more than comparative options then go for it. I wear a watch considered dressy on a daily basis with casual clothes. Why should anyone avoid a watch they like because it doesn't fit into a manufactured marketing category? People used to wear one good piece with everything and no one cared. Now watches are often segregated in lifestyle choices. Those marketing teams are getting people to think they need a specific watch for each occasion. I wonder why?$?

It's acceptable to wear a dive watch with casual clothes. It doesn't mean you have to walk around with a mask and dive tank. Why do you have to wear dress clothes with what's considered a more formal watch?

My main watch is a 36mm steel dial OP. I'm sure some think it looks too shiny even for casual summer. It' doesn't stop me. I like the size, comfort and look. Plus it's good for 100 meters of water resistance and tough enough for anything I'll be doing, within reason. If it isn't I'll take it off and put it back on when done with whatever may damage it.

I'm not saying to avoid collecting various styles of watches. It's fun and I completely understand. I have manual, auto, quartz, diver's, dress and casual in my small collection. What gets me is when someone knows they like something and then gets talked out of it because of the clothes they wear. The watch is an accessory for people. People don't have to bend to the will of targeted marketing in order to wear it. If the concern is what others may think rest easy in knowing popular tastes are rarely best.

Good luck in your choice and enjoy whatever you decide on.

I think this is a unique reference. I think you should go if you like it. I wouldn't look at it as an investment piece.

Really, in 18k gold at a similar price? With the same guaranteed level of precision and the same rock solid build quality? What would that be? A lange costs quite a lot more and is likely to be more fragile, a JLC , in my experience, is less reliable , as for servicing.....six months in my case. Neither gives a five year guarantee .
I get the feeling that the opinions in the forum are generally not based on real experience or ownership of a Cellini.

Incidentally, I’d take a guess that the Cellini, while sluggish in terms of Rolex sales, still easily outsell their obvious rivals. For good reason.

I didn’t reserve this piece however AD called me to have a look. Yes I do like it but my heart prefers a DD Olive if PM comes into play... Currently I don’t have any PM piece nor specialty watch like Cellini Moonphase in my humble collection...

Very cool watch. I shopped this one last year and ultimately went with a JLC ultra thin moon phase. I'm not defending better/worse - just my preference for such a spot in my collection.

The Cellini Prince model like is, to my knowledge, the only visible movement Rolex has put out. I really love their Art Deco vibe.

Here are the only two I have on my camera at the moment. One of my 5-year old sons asked to “take a wrist picture” with his watch too!

It really depends on what you want in a watch.

If you're looking for something that's recognizable, popular, one that may (or not) make people notice and compliment you, then stick to the sports lines.

If you want something that's still Rolex, but something unique and dressy, then this may be it.

Other brands have pretty nice offerings too. However, please note the service costs. From what I've read, the cost to service brands like JLC or AP are really high.

I'd rather buy a JLC MUT Moon in rose gold (ref. 1362520) and save $9k.

Cellini Moonphase is a nice watch but not worth the price.

The JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon might be something to consider.

It’s a nice model, but that kind of price point a Calatrava is better. Wearing jeans/shirts etc and a dress watch is ok. I just saw a gentleman with a PP Calatrava and shorts/Tshirt. He looked liked he has not taken a shower that day. He looked, somehow, right with it.

I wear my DD with black t shirt and black jeans and looks good to me. So if you have other watches and love it, ok, but I would do a Patek for that price point.

But the Patek and Cellini operate in completely different price ranges. And a Calatrava, while a lovely watch, wouldn’t survive the sort of treatment a Cellini would shrug off. It’s not a ‘dress watch’ , with all that suggests. It has the same movement, the same shock proofing as a Sub.
Again, how many of the opinions on here are from people who have actually owned a Cellini? As best I can see, very few.
