Damn, that sucks op. It happens, not a biggie and it could have been worst.

__

For me that's why I don't subscribe to that "using it like a real(ggrrrr) tool watch" while doing construction, gardening, fixing cars, painting or any other manual labor high risk for "OOPS!" moments work. It's just easier to take it off, do the work then get cleaned up, throw my watch on and sit down to enjoy a nice cool glass of wine and cigar with my pristine watch. Those are the types of memories I'd rather make around the house, but that's just me.

Well, better for the cable to have hit your watch than your wrist.

However, I highly advise against using a Rolex as PPE!

My first Rolex was a 1985 Datejust. I wore it to do just about anything. Now I don't wear any of my good watches to work in.

Sorry for your accident. It will be good as new soon!

Sorry to see. Chalk it up to learning a valuable lesson: Taking off your watch before you start doing any type of work involving tools.

Nope. I bet you wait till that watch comes back good as new, slap it on, then go tackle those roots with a jackhammer.

Yikes, that is some snake!! Never wear rings and watches when manning a snake. They can snap and twist in a real hurry.

The watch did protect you from potentially more serious injury.
Wrist protection may still be needed in the future. You can wear a G-shock next time.

Wear it for a month or two and if it still bothers you send it in.....oh wait, the normal reply doesn't fit here, nevermind.

The watch will need a service, because of the high likelihood of crystal fragments entering the movement. Downside of sapphire crystal.

Not good, but you did the right thing hacking the movement and sending it to the RSC.

Dropped the watch off for service today - beverly hills. Didn't think shipping to Dallas would be such a good idea. I'll update you all when it's back.

Thank you for all the positive comments and well wishes!

So many say they wear these watches all the time and they are tanks. In reality, watches are delicate jewelry easily damaged.

Oh, man, that hurts. Love that model. Hope you get it sorted quickly and, as stated above, the Explorer II might have taken one for the team!

I just sucked air through some gritted teeth when I saw that photo.
Man...that is just a gnarly crack.

Yeah - for sure put up a photo after the watch is back to it's awesome self again.
I love the Explorer II.

Ouch! Glad to hear the watch was the one that took the damage though.

At least you have a beautiful Speedy to wear in the meantime!
