Kind of a major typo in the story. He described Paul Newman's stunt double watch being repaired after damage from a fire.

It was actually Steve McQueen's stuntman's Rolex Submariner that was damaged in a fire and then restored.

I noticed there's a lot more leeway for the average joe to pop in with the dreaded franken genuinely looking to discuss. There's good content, mostly appreciation based. 10 out of 10 prefer it over insta-brag

Anybody else thirsting for more pics of that Olongapo bracelet wow! I think when everyone here has developed an obsession for how much stuff is worth on the grey market I’ve developed an obsession with rare bracelets n dials. There was a stunner on here a few months ago when a kid inherited his dads Rolex and Rolex offered to buy the watch during service because the octopussy bracelet was so rare. I got a thing for dads Rolex threads I think.

That is literally a dream .. what a story.

The best thing that happened to me was when I met a contractor boss on site to do a survey and discuss a job. He turned up in a battered old van and we started talking about the job, when I noticed on his wrist (literally hanging off due to bracelet stretch), was a 1950s submariner 5508 small crown ... i was wearing the modern equivalent at the time 114060. Needless to say we spent hours talking about watches and couldn't remember f**k all about the job when I got back to the office.

Thanks for sharing. That's a great story. I love how they replaced the pip on his bezel on the spot.

Cool story but where tf are they hiding the SS models lol.

Also from the reddit OP "We poke fun at the people who never wear their watches and keep them in a safe."

Awesome, as half if not more of us here bubble wrap them and cry when hairlines appear.

On the story, he mentions his PJ father being killed in a crash on '78.

Sadly, three PJ's were killed in a helo crash in New York state in '78

And that he was wearing the 5513 in the crash. Crazy.
