Yup, you're paying for an overpriced OP with date at that point, Rolex has really got you.

I think it depends on how much you want the dial to stand out. I like it on the oyster and smooth bezel.

Usually I’m in the camp of Datejust = fluted + jubilee. No questions asked.
But with this palm motif dial I kinda feel that it’s gonna be too cluttered.
That’s why I’m so torn between both options but likely smooth/oyster for this one because ultimately the star of this watch is the dial.

How about smooth/jubilee or fluted/oyster? They would tone down how busy it looks, but not all the way.

I'm kinda fixated with the having the traditional Datejust look of fluted/jubilee but I am somewhat sceptical whether the palm motif would go well with the fluted/jubilee combination... because a part of me actually feels that the palm motif will do better with smooth/oyster...

You ‘kinda’ told your SA...you’re ‘kinda’ fixated...you're ‘somewhat’ sceptical (sic)...are you ‘definitely’ anything?

I had my AD order the 126234-0047, 25% down 1st one in is mine.

This will be the most desirable one. The Predator dial will be hot. Why go smooth and look like an OP + date. NOTHX.

Expecting it in 3 months or less.

Good luck. Do disagree with my opinion, I stated it so it's not easy to agree with.

Update after talking to a few ADs. My AD along with others stated the palm dial itself is an allocation-only model and that this year ADs in the area will get at most 2 of these watches, they aren't the typical Date-just you can order.

Boutiques supposedly have visibility of getting double the allocation since they're strictly Rolex.

So it seems supply will be super thin on the Palm 36 fluted Jubilee. He also said the demand is off the charts since steel professionals are near impossible to get people are buying up DJs left and right. He showed me his list strictly for the watch 50 entries per page and he has 8-9 pages full of names and numbers.

His allocations are accounted for with me being one of them.

So my advice to you is with your AD, is just put the deposit down and wait if you want it.

The market might get out of control with it because they haven't really made a new green dial for DJ in steel in decades, furthermore, the only green version available is olive green TT with diamond roman numerals which are highly undesirable.

Another thing he updated me, all new releases are allocated only, Explorer 36 and Explorer 2, they gave him visibility that they will be allocated approximately 4 pieces total (2 of each) this year. Daytonas lol allocation only the list for that is gone, he said they know you're on the list if you have at least $50,000 spend with them. Precious metal new Daytona allocation only also especially with Meteorite supposedly 1 of each iteration this year. Full bracelets and oyster flex, all already accounted for with buyers in line as they arrive.

FWIW

Hearing this from an AD basically says: "if you're serious put money down, the interest/waitlist for allocation only models are useless." I was there talking with him and another guy asked for the same watch, he just straight up said "I don't know when we will get them, just give us a call." The guy left.

Hope that helps somehow, I'm anxious for getting this piece it might be the hot sleeper. And it's usually odd for a DJ to trade over retail especially a 36. By looking at the blue-fluted jubilee 36s trading marginally over retail, I can only imagine what the palm would trade for. Maybe at least 25% or more off the bat.

Let's see what happens.

This thread should have been posted on 4/20; the watch deserves the nick name, the Cartel. For me it would be fluted with Oyster strap.

I had a Gray Market dealer from Florida making fun of me for getting 1 of the 2 local AD allocations for the "Tommy Bahama" watch. Lol

I'll go with smooth/oyster as the fluted/jubilee makes it too busy....

Nah just get an OP. You're basically turning it into an OP+Date.

DJ Has to be fluted + jubilee, I hope Rolex deletes the oyster bracelet + smooth bezel tbqh, it's not for the line. You have a lot of professional model options for these iterations already

But then again to each his own, I'm a very busy guy so that dial is absolutely calm for me even more so if you switch it for a leather band, alligator, etc.

Buy what you like with inherent residuals.

I did speak to the AD today and put my request for a…… fluted, jubilee variant. As noted above the smooth/oyster combination is too similar to the OP 36. And secondly I might want to collect a series of DJ36 eventually so having all in uniform fluted/jubilee would be quite an amazing sight. Thanks for all the opinion and advice given.

Well it looks like some of these 126234-0047's are starting to get delivered. A youtuber received one and there's now 4 on chrono24. All ranging from $17k-$20k+
