Stop commenting on threads if you just rag and make fun of others.

Why?

You posted a thread in a discussion forum. You certainly seem to be trying to cause trouble and play the victim at the same time.

You do have a point about the "should I get this/that watch". People here are generally more polite (mostly). People should think for themselves. However, some may already know but need a nudge. Getting the opinion of those in a game for longer who may have made the same decision years ago can be of value.

If I am allowed to make fun of others here I will. I thought it is against the rules. Of course anyone can post. I'm just asking adults to not reply if it doesn't interest them.

So you should be allowed to post anything you like but you believe that people should only comment if they like it?

Perhaps another persons interest is opposite of yours. And I still ask, who is this watch guy and why does his video have any credibility or merit any positive comments? Butn then again you knew this topis is highly polarizing, hence my first post.

Good luck to you.

Stop making things up. I said no such thing. I suggested making fun of people because of a post on a forum is not an adult thing to do. If you guys feel Inclined to have no impulse control go nuts. I don't have my feelings hurts by random people on the internet.

I don't think Flanders was the most talked about on here. It seemed to fly under the radar here.

I’d accept with gratitude.

What’s the point of forcing a nickname? If it comes naturally then so be it. If it is earned then so be it. But to be forced to name every new model out there is something I would not expect from someone who has been around for so long.

If it’s called the riddler, the booger, sprite, phlegm machine, the Seattle Supersonic, the green machine…would that change anyones decision on whether or not they like it? No. It’s just a passing fad for 15 seconds of fame. Or maybe I’m wrong and the watch cognoscenti are still referring to a yellow OP as the Lufthansa as was suggested on this very own TRF aka therolexnickname.com forum.

No one is forcing nicknames. People discuss nicknames. There are tons of threads on here I can ridicule or mock.

"Should I change this watch to this watch?" _ummmm make up your own mind

"What are you wearing today?"_is this for teenage girls coordinating outfits?

Etc....

But I don't.

If making fun of others is an allowed part of this forum let's me at it. I love making fun of people.

The trouble with nicknames is who knows what they are, and which watches they refer to, unless you are on-line a lot. I agree it's time for them to end.

When I went to pick up my YM "Captain America " this week the AD asked if I wanted a "Pepsi" or "Coke" as well for my next watch. This was Bucherer Tournea on Madison Ave NYC.

I think Robin or Marvin work well for it. One is a sidekick and the other is quirky like the watch itself. I think of you feel like an idiot saying the nick out loud then it shouldn’t stick. An average non WIS should be able to make the connection to what watches you’re referring to without explaining it. Defeats the whole purpose.

The sprite thing is being clinged onto by people that don’t realize that was a nickname for a fake watch that never was released in yellow and green.

True. Most likely Sprite then. To stay within carbonated soft drinks.

Or Robin I agree works. To go with Batman.

While I agree with the sentiment, I don’t see how insulting forum members helps or is fun for anyone getting into this hobby.

Also, and this is just a suggestion, I’d make sure I don’t make spelling mistakes when telling people they’ve lost use of their brain

He has a point. Many of these YouTube personalities speak from a place of authority, rather than their actual place.... an opinion. Though, many have a lot of experience in the hobby/industry that can make them informative. Though, it takes a lot of active listening and sifting through the BS and biased opinions.

I am a fan of a few channels myself. When I'm researching a model, I like to see them in the hands of reviewers, so I can see them on wrist. Not too interested in the backstories and why I "have to have it".

Sadly, I think Peter also comes off as speaking from a place of authority. Two negatives don’t make a positive.

I was a member of TURF for a long time too.

Many folks here are just as nice, if not nicer.

I think it was just a different time back then.

Sure people would flex back then too. And there would be talk about watches as investments. But not at the same level as it is today.

Nicknames are definitely a new phenomenon.
