What are you going buy her AP cufflinks?

I don't think she would want them, let alone want to keep them in a break up

I’m wondering if anyone has any experience of getting a watch back bc the girl may associate the item to you (or vice versa).

Asking for a friend of course.
A gift is a gift. Several in this thread have rightfully pointed out that this is true legally. But I'm speaking morally - from any decent person, a true gift is unconditional. If you see it as conditional in some way (e.g. the relationship staying together) then it's not a gift.

If it's well within your means, I think it is a wonderful gift. But make sure you see it that way. Best of luck.

Do what makes you happy. Don't overthink the whole gf/wife thing. A wife can leave you just as easily as a gf with one notable exception. If a gf leaves, you'd lose everything that you've already spent on her. A wife leaves, you stand to lose 50% of everything that you haven't spent YET.
Can I be your side chick?
