It's already received a ton of press from large companies such as Robb Report, Watch Pro, Maxim, Hype Beast, etc. Just the Hype Beast article has had over 26,000 views in a few days. These watches are certified unworn with box and papers. They're offering one example from each model year which I've never seen done before. Finding an early Hulk with this pedigree is extremely difficult. I'm confused why a real Rolex enthusiast wouldn't appreciate NOS examples of a discontinued extremely popular watch. Regarding the prices, if anyone follows NOS Hulk watches the estimates are in line with the values even on the earlier models. Finding a "real" NOS Hulk from a 'real" seller with no BS is no fun. If I were in the marker for this watch I'd be registering to bid with a company I can trust. What else could a buyer ask for?

Selling at worst time possible

There’s certainly an air of desperation in this sale

If they knew anything about hills or watches they would realize the 2020 is worth more than the 2010 not the other way around

Sorry to sound dumb, but with scrambled serial numbers, how does one verify that each is from a subsequent year of production vs just a date filled in on a warranty card ?

I will start the bidding by offering my best Invicta against their best Hulk

Straight trade. They don’t have to pay me anything additional

It’s not a dumb question. Other than the date on the card, or an original receipt possibly, you can’t know from a random serial number. And no, Rolex won’t tell you. You could have bought a “2020” Hulk that was actually produced in 2019 but happened to be stamped in 2020. I suppose there could be nuanced details or shifts in the dial from year to year but I’m not familiar with those details (if any)

This represents an issue with the current Rolex market where some folks hoard a large number of the same reference for whatever reason adding to the shortages. These are watches which could have been sold to separate buyers from ADs who would have worn them.

Your still overpaying for a watch that only looks cool 1 day out of the year.

So ridiculous that 7 of the 11 watches sold. The average price with the buyers commission was $39,435.

You clearly didn't read the description. The 2018 model was fully stickered. The buyers fee is 26% through the board.

I also noticed the 2010 model has a scrambled serial number - shouldn’t that have been a ‘G’?

According to the Rolex Serial Number guide "G" was model year 2009. From Autumn of 2009 forward is scrambled. Also, the Bonhams description states that each watch and warranty card was inspected by an authorized Rolex dealer. A letter for each is included.

I thought this collection was very unique and after all the dust settled it was. Many articles were written, videos were made and forums like this one were started. The bottom line is Bonhams sold 63% of the watches for an average price of almost $40,000 a piece with the buyers fee. Good thing I didn't place any bets on the comments from this forum. LOL!

Anyone who paid that much for any of those watches is a complete fool. Congrats on your auction.

So if the buyer’s commission was 25 percent this dude took in just north of $207K. On what likely cost him $100K max to acquire (certainly this person was getting these from an AD). And he’s still got 4 watches. It’s certainly not a “loss.”
