Explorer I OR Submariner. Either one can do dress/sporty in virtually all situations. Timeless.

Most other Rolex models IMO veer more, relatively speaking, towards dress or sport.

Since you said "do anything"... a G-Shock is pretty darn versatile.

Well, yeah, except the OP said..."go anywhere do anything watch in Rolex’s line up?" So, I think a G-Shock would be cheating.

Submariner Date - you can choose how flashy/high end you want it by choosing a different bezel colour, two tone or full gold.

GMT/Explorer II both good options, but the glidelock clasp and timing bezel trump the functionality of a second timezone for me.

You can go anywhere do anything with almost every watch Rolex makes. The explorer or sub come to mind as the best options, but you can wear an OP everyday, beat the heck out of it, and it will be fine. Explorer IMO is one of the better do anything type watches. Wears well with just about anything, and it’s a simple tool watch.

I would consider any SS Rolex a GADA watch. The 904L steel is fairly indestructible. With a little more care, add PM to the mix.

Tracking Rolex's history and still relevant today, it's easily the Datejust. Released in 1945, it implemented the two key Rolex innovations of the time that carry on today - the Oyster case (waterproof) and perpetual movement. It was literally just nothing more than a wristwatch with those features that Rolex didn't make specifically for a purpose as watches tended to be back then (they were tools after all). As such, GADA was the intent and honestly still is.

All the other professional watches often mentioned were released in the 1950s and beyond and were geared more towards specific purposes. The OPs were meant for explorers and adventurers as was the Explorer I. The Sub, GMT, Milgauss, Sea-Dweller, Daytona, and Explorer II that followed were all made for specific type of users and their needs.

I've been daily-ing my Daytona for the 7 1/2 years I've had it. The only thing it doesn't do is sports (running, tennis, weightlifting), although of course it could. It's the "ultimate" for me, but not necessarily for you.

My 16710 fits the bill perfectly for me and my interests.
t\The GMT II 16710 is the perfect watch due to the versatility and ease in changing the aluminum bezel inserts from all black, to black and red, to red and blue.

My Explorer II just did a week in Hong Kong. A couple of days this week in a suit. Then a couple of days hillwalking and it’s now away on a mountain biking weekend.

It’s got a claim on a go anywhere do anything watch but I guess isn’t high end for Rolex.

As has been said, every Rolex. As much as I appreciate other high horology watches, I would destroy most of them.. except Panerai.

Pretty much all of them. My Submariner, GMT and DJ41 are all equally versatile.
