I’ll have to go with the Sub. For nearly 19 years I’ve worn mine daily through tons of world travels, tons of vacation traveling to all over, in the ocean, boating, swimming, etc., office work and meetings plus thousands of hours of field engineering (nuclear submarines and nuclear reactor plants) plus clearing land the hard way, using all manner of power tools from my tractor, chain saws, impact hammer drills, doing masonry and tile work, exercising, dressing up for formal occasions, going to sporting events. I cannot come up with an activity where I do not and cannot wear it. My Rolex SA even said that perhaps that I might consider lightening up on it. Yet it still appears perfect but for a tiny scratch on the bezel that you cannot see without close inspection.

Exactly that only difference in many models is the depth water resistant rating that it's doubtful if many users will ever use them today.The oyster case is one of the top almost destruction proof watches made by man.

Actually, I think it's the user's interests that dictate the answer to the OP's question. In my case, any GMT-Master II model or Explorer II model with 3185 caliber movement or later (independently adjustable 12-hour hand) would be my choice. My 16710 fits the bill perfectly for me and my interests.

Some are flashier than others due to finishings and materials. So if you’re looking for one that doesn’t stand out, avoid ceramic materials, any bracelet other than oyster, and avoid a cyclops.
