Breitling Emergency on Orange NATO seems most appropriate.

Pink G Shock is all that makes sense.
Seriously, it would be so over the top, it would run full circle and be seen as classy. Next year the queen would do the same. Maybe not. I wouldn't want to attend any affair where wearing a watch is an unforgivable sin. Then again, I wouldn't want to belong to any club that would have me as a member. Oh and yes, as a stupid American I can't be expected to understand such high end etiquette and the tragic social implications of having a watch on my wrist, as I'm just a few DNA sequences away from a lizard. |

Well you can still feel badly as I was thinking of the Geico lizard, who come to think of it sounds British and probably wouldn't wear a watch to the event.

I am so ashamed for even considering wearing a watch to such an event. May God have mercy on my soul...... |

Because of the Black tie I would stay with a SS Sub. I wouldn't want to add colour to my wrist when everything else is black or white.

Between those, you're better off not wearing any with a tux. Its going to look silly to wear a sports/tool watch with a tux, that's why you need a classic dress watch :)
Bond wore a Sub because he was going to be doing badass activities/adventures whilst wearing his Sub, you will not be, unfortunately :) You'll be enjoying a beautiful stately dinner and should accessorize accordingly

I would wear either of the subs, however I would be conscious of whether others were wearing watches if the majority were not wearing them I think I would slip it into the wife's purse. Sounds like an amazing night!

Wear the Sub. If any stuffy judgmental types say "nice watch," tell them you picked it up in Chinatown specifically for the occasion because you saw Mr. Bond wearing one and you thought it was a customary, necessary accessory for formal events in the UK.

At such a prestigious event I would not want to appear rude of customs or traditions. Going to Windsor Castle would be a very big deal to me and I would not want to appear uncouth.

Hey...you decided to dismiss my post by telling me my opinion was antiquated. Look in ye olde mirror, eh? I would have thought higher of you had you been able to offer up some evidence - in a nice way. This is all silly stuff. It's a silly but fun watch forum afterall. How about wearing an alarm clock round ones neck ala Flava Flav? I should defer to our British members...I've never dined in a castle... |

Etiquette's a real thing, but the times they are a changing, so get a nice, thin, unassuming white gold Cellini on a black strap and keep it in your pocket along with the sub. Once the affair gets going, put one or the other on or keep both in your pocket once you see what others are doing. When in Rome, as they say...

Bingo. This is all about dressing appropriately for the occasion; being mindful of and respecting local custom and tradition when you are a guest... so simple in theory; sadly, seemingly so difficult in reality. |

Your wife gets a designer dress and you didn't use this opportunity to coax your way into a new 214270 for this occasion?
Based on your collection go with the SS Sub |

As long as you are well turned out, nobody is gonna care about a bloody watch on your wrist. A dress watch on a nice thin strap might be de rigueur, but I really think most people won't give a flying hoot. Enjoy.

To all the people who say not to worry about what others think and wear what you want.
I would ask if you would feel entitled to wear a grey lounge suit at this event? Or how about a swimming cap?? There is a dress code. Dinner Jacket. Evening trousers. Bow tie. No Watch. This hasn'nt been mentioned but, and I assume you wouldn't anyway, but I would wear a propper bow tie - not a clip on. (Plus u get to do the cool Dean Martin look late on) |

Great excuse to splurge!
I vote for heading out to pick up a Vacheron, Patek, JLC, etc...
OP, Whatever you decide, what a story you will have to tell the future heirs and owners of that watch! (Windsor Castle!). Don't forget the pics! ...and looking forward to seeing your post from the evening. I am surprised at the invective in some of these posts! So many who claim to have such deep knowledge of manners, protocol, and etiquette seemingly forgetting it in their posts. --Paul

So you'd say no watch at all? Never knew that. I know that there is a certain etiquette to such events, but didn't realize any watch at all was a no no. |
