Sorry to hear OP.
If it were me, I'd get rid of the box and papers and move on to your next. |

Pointless thread... Why is it not safe to travel in the US with a Rolex? Particularly to a state/town many of us live in or have been to...

Can I get my five minutes back?
Send the box and papers to your insurance company. Buy a new watch. Get a different brand if a Rolex reminds you of your indiscretions with a lady of the night. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

We can all read between the lines and figure out what happened. I want to know what insurance company the OP had. Sounds like it wasn't a very easy process. Then again, when is it ever?

Someone please post the list of cities, states, counties, continents that I should not wear my Rolex. I only hope that my location is not included or I will have to cease and desist from wearing my watches.

I'll continue to globe trot with my Rolex. It is odd that the OP advises us not to but provides no reasons as to why we shouldn't. I think it's a great idea to travel with fine watches.

Chaps
Just a couple of points. The OP is undeniably being evasive on how the watch became missing, but that is never in a million years, a reason to ban him. That is pure over kill. Secondly, to make a public suggestion that he was going with a hooker is unethical because we don't know if his wife / partner is reading this thread. Regards Mick |

Let Rolex know that your watch is stolen so if that same watch ever gets sent in for servicing, Rolex will notify you.

To All the Warm respondents, I have enjoyed reading your posts. To the misguided & unfortunate respondents that want to Ban me and assume every guy may be into hookers or that I would be so dishonest as to keep my watch for an insurance claim, may you be blessed with the ability to make better character judgments and not make erroneous assumptions about people you don't know. I was not trying to be evasive, just a friendly tip when you are traveling to be cautious & aware. The Watch was stolen in South Beach, Miami by a female hustler from my beach side cabana daytime hours. Yes it was Miami, vacation hours & alcohol was involved. I wanted some help from fellow Rolex friends about what to do with the leftover box and appreciate the responses. Some of you think you are invincible in the face of adversity, but your choices including not be victimized are half chance and you run the risk when traveling to foreign places, like the guy on the plan from an earlier post. Lastly, it may be easy to forget for most of you, but the avg. person is not walking around with a $10K sometimes even $20K watch strapped to their wrist. When you are, some people will want your goods whether that be in Miami, Los Angeles, Asia or Africa. Read the articles online if you are not, be a better informed traveler & show some compassion to those that may have made mistakes or been victimized.

Thanks for finally letting us know the details, I did enjoy reading all the replies. The trouble I find with going on holiday is that I like to take more than one watch so the issue is where to hide the ones I am not wearing? It seems universal advice to not use the safe in the room so other option is the hotel safe at reception? Most places I've been don't offer that facility.
