Every watch I own (11) has the date. Unless I absolutely loved the particular watch I will always want the date feature.

Yes and no.

My last three purchases have been no date. For decades, always have had the date or Day and Date.

Getting settled in with the new 'normal'

I prefer a date on a watch when at work , it can be easy to forget what the date is. I even like a watch to have the Day and Date. This is useful when traveling and away from home.

I prefer the no dates, I can see and remember the date on my cell phone and when it's a no date watch day I don't have to set the date

No date = playtime and no care about what day let alone what date it is.
SubC = I would set the bezel to the date if I was wearing for work (don't have it yet but it's next on the list)
The clean lines of the no date are hard to not like.

I really like that idea with the sub no date. . I wonder if it would be bad to stop the Daytona chrono on the date..........hmmm....interesting.

Great idea...for 1st - 15th, 20th, 25th, and 30th.

I know, set the pip to one of the first 31 minutes. Bummer though the bezel goes in the wrong direction to make that convenient.

I prefer no date I frequently switch watches and don't use a winder so I would have to reset the date and I hate doing that. So no date is my thing

Like it!
At least it'll let me have a reason to turn the bezel. Lol.
As I'm not a diver nor really need to time anything.
And at least it'll "exercise" the mechanism and stop a build up of gunk.....my excuse anyhow.

Genius!!
I have a Daytona and wanted to come up with a way when writing my prev post.
Cannot see how it would harm the watch.
Maybe the experts in that movement with the vertical clutch would be able to answer.
Will having the Chrono "engaged" but not running cause any loss in reserve or any other issues?

I completely agree OP. I love the looks of the Daytona, BB, milgauss etc. but don't own one because of the lack of a date function. I'll pick up a Daytona when I retire and the date doesn't matter.

I find it impossible to believe that you cannot remember a simple thing such as todays date.

Today is the 29th, what on earth is difficult in remembering that.

Regards

Mick
After reading that honestly without thinking I looked down at my BLNR to check if you were correct, luckily it has a date

I prefer no date. I write or type the date 40-100 times a day when i am at the shop so no chance to forget it. The days I am not at the shop like today, I just don't care. I prefer not having to set it as I don't use winders and rotate between 6 watches. At times one might not get worn for 8-10 days and my damned navitimer doesn't have a quick set date so that one really sucks if I end up running late.

I'd be writing a cheque and need to take a glance to see what date it is today. 2 minutes later, I'd be writing another one and I would have to look again. It's crazy but it's a habit which I find it very hard to change. I would find it really hard to live without a date function.

I do need a date once in while and it comes in handy. Also i prefer easy legibility and therefor the Maxi dial wins. Adding the frequent need for a second time zone, and i wear a GMT pretty much all the time. Lusting after some other morsels of course, but practicality wins me over everytime.

Am I the only one who finds the DAY to be the most useful part of the date complication of a watch?

I find a "date" watch (ie. just showing the day of the month) just as frustrating as a no-date watch.

I struggle to grow the watch collection because I get so frustrated with watches that don't show which day of the week it is.

No date Watches

Have never understood this thing about no date watches and work.
IMHO if you cannot remember todays date for 24 hours then you shouldn't be working but in a care facility! Haha

Two thoughts:
There's a date on your cell phone.
When you get older, like me, it's a good mental exercise to remember the date (LOL).

The time is on your cell phone too, so why wear a watch at all? What are any of us even doing here, chatting on and on about these unnecessary things on our wrists?

Honestly the only time I really need the date is when I am at the bank filling out a deposit slip or the likes. Other than that I'm fine

I didn't realize how often I look at the date until I started wearing my father's No-Date Rolex that didn't have one.
