How much markup would you pay for a Daytona C?

1. Would not pay a mark-up for BNIB.
2. Prefer buying pre-owned at less than List.
3. Was really into the white dial version but then lost interest. I don't know why.
4. So no longer in the market for Ceramic version.
5. Ended up buying the discontinued SS version with black dial today. Maybe because of relative value?

I would go $2k over. I remember wanting a ss and gold ceramic blue sub and thought the price of $7k was waaaaaay too much. This was 5 years ago. Several price increases later and they go for $11.5k. My point is with just 2-3 price increases the white ceramic daytona will cost more in a few quick years than the $2k premium I would pay now.

Never have paid over MSRP for anything, especially a watch. In all honesty, I don't expect to pay full retail for the 116500, if I chose to purchase it.

If I didn't have a good relationship with my AD I'd probably pay up to $1,000 to have a Daytona this year, but since I DO have a good relationship with my AD I'll pay $0.00 over MSRP

for the C-Daytona now, i am willing to pay MSRP because i was wishing for a ceramic SS Daytona for years.

I wouldn't pay a cent over MSRP yet i will not judge anyone that does

I wouldn't pay anything over MSRP and would rather just wait a little longer. I had a friend the other day saying he'd pay 6k more over. I'd rather buy myself a DJII with that money and enjoy that until I could get a DaytonaC and then have two watches. I think he needs his head examined.

If no, aren't you throwing away 6k in the same way that the buyer would be? You essentially trade places by NOT flipping! Whoever is holding the daytona gets the utility of ownership but pays the 6k of market price depreciation one way or another. Difference being the one allocated the watch has a chance to make money.

In my opinion theres something to be said about not exercising the option to flip.

Thats exactly why the Daytona when lauched back in 2000 was so hard to get at retail.Trouble today Rolex are no loger watches they are just thought off as £££££$$$$$$ by so many today.And IMHO anytone paying crazy prices for what is in the rel world a 16 year old producion watch wit hjust a push on fit sliver cermic bezel and on the white one a retro 1990s dial.

First off I remember the saying " it's worth what someone will pay for it".
Second, I also recall about 10 years ago visiting a Rolex dealer and the story then was only regular customers who purchased diamonds and other high end pieces could even think about purchasing the SS Daytona at the time, $ 23,000.00 white gold models no problem SS good luck, they have always seemed to be of limited supply.
My brother and I both recently purchased new Rolex's I chose a DD40 he a GMT C SS.
3 days after he owned the watch buyers remorse set in after he read an article related to the new Ceramic Daytona and he put his name on the waiting list, the pictures on the web are incredible , this watch to me is stunning, as much as my new YG DD40.
If not for all the chatter on this forum I would ot be on the list to get one allegedly in October of this year. Hope to post pics soon.

Getting allocated a 116500 today would afford the owner the opportunity to flip for a lnib WG sub/BLRO/DD40 for 12,400 in some sense lol win win in the long run the gold watch should be worth more as well. Okay I'm done

I would not pay a premium for a ceramic Daytona, but I did pay a hefty premium for my Zenith Daytona back when they were truly impossible to source.

My friends thought I was crazy to buy any Rolex, much less pay above MSRP for one, but I really wanted one and was in a position to pay for it without using borrowed money. Now almost twenty years later, I'm still enjoying my watch and the extra money that I paid never crosses my mind.

Back in the day, only if Paul Newman worn a gold Paul Newman Daytona. People would be crazy about PN Daytona in gold
SS models were more popular than gold as well
SS/Precious metals don't have anything to do with price in long run but the watch itself + the people who wear the watch

You've had some good points with this in this thread...and it's something I could consider. However for some reason I'd not feel comfortable unless my AD was aware of my intent...taking advantage of the relationship to get one fast. Not the best financial mind set, but I've always said I'm not in this for the money.

Would gladly pay MSRP, not a penny more. I rather wait it out and buy one second hand.

A 116520 would give me the same satisfaction.
