Congrats on the sub and the only thing that matters is you are happy with your purchase. Welcome to TRF

Congrats on the new watch. As long as you are happy, then that's all that matters. Out of curiosity, did you try on a fitted bracelet? I was 100% anti bracelet (in fact, my PO has never been worn on a bracelet). When I bought my Rolex I bought all sorts of straps in anticipation of taking the bracelet off immediately upon arrival. Out of curiosity I tried it on and WOW! The Rolex bracelet is so comfortable, and from what I hear the glidelock is much better than my GMT II bracelet.

This AD is weird. Plus you sealed a bad deal, very difficult to explain..

My AD would not even remove the diver extension link in my Deepsea D blue bracelet he said according to Rolex it would compromise the original watch.
Question: Is there any type of matching identification between the watch and its bracelet? |

Ok..... First, OP, congrats on your new Rolex and wear it in good health.
Second, REGARDLESS if it was a good deal or not, (how many of us have spent more then we should have on something because we wanted it really bad), or if he SHOULD have bought a Rolex without a bracelett (we can argue that until the cows come home) or it will come back to bite him if/when he tries to sell it (Who knows and cares), ... I think a really big question here is: Is this an AD optional transaction? Is this something Rolex allows their ADs to do? Maybe.... I mean, I guess the AD now has a bracelett he can sell at MSRP, you can walk in to any AD and order a new bracelett right? I just find it strange that Rolex would condone someone walking out the door of one of their ADs with an incomplete watch. ? ? ? OP, can you please tell us what AD it was? |

I wonder if you can get one without the crown! Probably save $500.
Congrats on the new watch! |

Congrats OP.
I have no issues with wearing it without a bracelet. I would never buy a watch like that, but it's your money. The thing that bothers me is that he thinks the AD did him some kind of huge favor and gave him a great deal. He didn't get a 2k discount like this thread title implies. That's just misleading. He paid less because he got less. Not even sure how this deal was brought up. Did he ask for just the head? Did the AD offer to take the bracelet off when the OP tried to negotiate?

Welcome to the forums.
Lets not bash this guy. If he doesn't wan the bracelet then let him do whatever he wants. How much was the watch bought for? Determining on price i might go back and pay the 2k for the bracelet.

I had a similar situation as well. I got a huge discount on a new day date I let the AD keep the watch and only give me the box for $600.00 I sure got over on him

He stated he doesn't wear bracelets. Does a bracelet make the watch keep better time? If he doesn't plan on selling the watch, why pay $2k extra for a bracelet that will sit in a box unused? Too many bad deal comments and terrible analogies in this thread, IMO.

I agree with most that I wouldn't have bought without bracelet (as i previously posted) but wow some of the responses from members on here are just plain bullying. Really disappointing to me.

Congrats! Why have something that expensive lying around in a drawer collecting dust when. You can put the 2k toward a nice vacation somewhere while you wear your new sub snorkeling on a strap :) You can always pick one up on M2M sales down the road if you ever do have the desire to wear it on a bracelet.

Congrats, but it is a strange move, Omega and Breitlings come on straps but Rolexes mostly don't and for a good reason. Still it's OP's money but resale will be a headache so hope it's a keeper.

What if the AD sold him the watch as is and then immediately paid him $2000 for his bracelet? I fail to see the difference. Who knows how they did it. If it is a money making venture for them I guarantee and independent AD would do it. Maybe not the boutique, but my indy would do it if I asked and he was at least going to break even on the bracelet. Would probably show it as a credit/trade in on the invoice for one glidelock bracelet. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

I'm shocked as well that AD would that! IMO not a good deal for you! You could have gotten a discount and kept the other half of the watch.

Strange
There have been about 3 first time posts lately that have some subjects that make me think they are not real posts.
1. Bought a sub without a bracelet. 2. Bought a vintage DJ off ebay, but not really bought one, just won the bid, but mom says I should not get it. 3. Can't remember the third but you get my point. |
