Chad, so glad you had a wonderful experience - that's what it's all about! FYI....I should be able to fit 100ish bottles in the wagon in case you need some help collecting!!!

This is just awesome! One my buddies that's a diehard Jack fan wanted to do this but I didn't need that much Jack. Now you're making me second guess that decision. Congrats!

You should be second guessing that decision. Seriously, it was an incredible day. And, you can never have too much Jack.

Very neat! It looks like you had a great time..

Do you get to keep the actual barrel that held your whiskey in the end?

Unfortunately, no. They gave us a refurbished/finished barrel, but not the one that held our whiskey.

How was the tour? I really have to go there and check out the distillery.

Really cool. We did the dry county tour which doesn't include the tasting. We were doing our own private tasting to select a barrel. Then, we were treated to sample Sinatra Select and JD 150th Anniversary. If you go for the tour, arrange lunch at Miss Mary Bobo's and then do the Angel Shares tour. You get to sample Gentleman Jack, Single barrel, Single barrel barrel proof, and Sinatra Select. There are also a lot of little shops in town for souvenirs.

It varies by state and barrel. Taxes vary and the number of bottles per barrel can vary. In SC, it's going to be $45.58 per bottle after taxes. This was for everything. The tour, lunch, finished barrel, decanter set, barrel head, etc.

Very nice Chad... I know only two things about JD... it's nickname is Lynchburg Lemonade & Frank Sinatra was supposedly buried with a bottle under his arm

After the barrel selection, we got to sample the Sinatra Select and received a history lesson on how it came about. Sinatra really put JD in the Hollywood spotlight. Supposedly, that's all he drank once he discovered it. He drank so much and gave so many bottles away to Hollywood friends, that JD almost ran out of whiskey. That's when they sold it to Brown Foreman for $20 million. Those guys dumped tons of money to build new stills, mash houses, rick houses, etc. It is a really cool story on how the brand was thrust into the spotlight.
