As much I as like the SD43, I don't think it would be the king, the king would would be the Sub

Definitely agree about the 116600 - and I love mine - but it never won the hearts and minds, as it were.

Does your statement extend back to the 16600? Because I consider that to be the last beloved, successful classic SD.

I agree with him and I don't think there ever been a hot selling sea dweller in the diver line over time with all the iterations...they all come out get hyped then just sit until the next iteration. They've all been great watches one way or another...but destined to be overshadowed by subs.

This SD43 could definetly steal sales from the DSSD and the Sub. Realistically though it won't replace the Sub in the eyes of the general public who buy an icon without knowing or being interested in much else.

Nothing wrong with that, I like the idea that the Sea-Dweller is and carries on being much less common.

Not sure if it is the next king, but it's a big improvement over the watch it replaced.

I love mine, to me it's a perfect balance of new vs old, function and utility. I know the SD purest will hate the comment, but aging eyes will like the date magnifier. I love my Sub LV for the size and profile, but the SD43 is more comfortable to wear. All in all the there are tradoffs and comprises between the past SD's and the future. The comfort, increased case size and new movement with a 70hr reserve make it the new Rolex sport model standard. Or the new king!!!IMHO!!!

It's a beauty without any doubt, also size are more in trend now BUT the king of Rolex of any time remain SUBMARINER!
The SD43 must need to be around for 50 years and after that if SD43 are still in top then we can talk if he can be pretender for King title!
Until then......

It's my new king. It is perfect. Comfortable and substantial. Just like I always thought a Rolex diver should be.
