I would definitely take the Tudor! If I had an Explorer II it would be a strong contender as well.

All the best! Hope it is a fast one!!

Your service is what rocks!! Nothing would be cooler than a new piece for the tour! The Explorer II has become that quintessential deployment piece over the years.

Hope it is a smooth one!!

Wishing you all the best!!

Thank you for doing this. Be safe. I suggest the Sub, easy to clean with a full metal bracelet. One that makes me smile every time I see one and you have a beater for really rough occasions. All as long as you can tuck the crown away while not wearing it. Best of luck, sir.

G-shock is good enough for your desert deployment. If you miss your Rolex watches there, you can connect to TRF anytime when you are available. Keep safe!

that all depends, whats your job? speaking from personal experience, having been there twice, i would only bring the G-shock, but that's for the job i did.

Bring the sub, it will become your very own genuine milsub. That what I intend to do with my 79090.

Otherwise as a practical standpoint, a GMT watch to track zulu and local home time is good.

All depends on your mission set, I would rather depend on the DAGR time than any mechanical watch.

On a humorous note, this is the first ever PROPER use of the word "deployment" on TRF!

On a serious note, take whichever watch makes you smile, as I am sure that will be helpful. And be safe!

None of the above. A backup G-Shock or go super-vintage with a 100 year-old Lancet or Elgin Trench Watch. Safe return!

First, thank you for your service! Second, as a second watch, I would want it to be mechanical so as not to be reliant on battery. So after that consideration, fielder's choice.

Stay safe.

Voted Tudor as there are times when being part of the 'background' is a good thing.

My opinion only but after decades serving and years deployed, I got to say if you live out of a sea bag and ruck sack...the one to wear is the one you could care less to lose. Been there done that... unless you don't mind losing a watch to IED's, bullets, whatnot, then toss in theft of said items...you get the picture? Just some sage advice any Senior NCO would give you. Stay whole, we'll all wish you the best.

Thanks for your service and stay safe. I'd take the g-shock only. No need to worry about your other watch coming up missing when you are not wearing it.

Thanks for everyone's input! The Tudor won by a large margin followed by the sub but I just couldn't spring for either. This thread helped me realize I need a model more suited to the location and task at hand.

So you all helped me end up here, about to catch my flight with an Explorer II at my side.

Absolutely incredible!!! What a truly iconic piece to take with you!!!

I will never forget the pics of Prince Harry wearing his on deployment and always thought it looked amazing.

Please have a very safe tour and provide updates along the way!!

Again, wonderful choice!!

I don't mind at all Brother!! To me this is the most epic deployment watch of our generation.

It adds a cool factor to a difficult situation and reminds us that we are all Brothers In Arms.

I really hope it is uneventful and smooth.

Wishing you and your family all the strength in the world to get back home safe and sound!!
