I have to write dates multiple times a day and keep on forgetting.

Also an excuse to look at my watch

I sign a lot of documents and sometimes I just feel cool looking down at my Rolex to check the date.

Because I can't always remember and I don't need to whip out my phone to check it.

Helpful when checking expiration dates too!

Unless it’s a Daytona it needs a date and cyclops.

I appreciate ND watches but, in my opinion, the date function is one of the most useful watch complications. I also think a date window, if done properly, adds to the dial aesthetic

I don't know why Daytona doesn't provide us with the option of date function.

Yep, convenience and habit.

That said, I chose an Explorer 1 as my Rolex because I liked the symmetry and simplicity of the dial without the date. I've never liked the cyclops models very much because to me, the lines of the watch are interrupted by that magnifier.

I don't care about the date per se, so I don't keep a handle of it in my mind. But we need the date for so many planing activities... I am really missing the day too on my GMT2 for the same reason. And using phone or computer to tell the data is breaking the flow of the thoughts, especially because there are many of devices around me.

It really wasn’t even necessary to wear a wristwatch 50 years ago, when there were clocks everywhere and you could call for the time and temp (at least in the US.)

It’s still about convenience.

I am a luddite when it comes to phones, I can remember the day & month easily enough yet the date that day eludes me. Find with my non-date watches, I look at them for the date.

I like having the date (not the day) on my watches but do own a few without. And you're right I could look at the date on my phone but I could also look at the time as well. It's just that I don't.

When I look at my phone, I don't see the date or the time because I just don't look for it. I could. I just don't.

For me the only complication I really like on a watch is the date although I have a couple of chronographs but I never use the function. I just like the look of the watches.

So none of this is what I need. Just what I want.

I need my watch because I hardly ever carry a cell phone. I plan to live longer by not carrying a cell phone.

I dont wear watches with date windows, imo it ruins the face of the watch, and its not that important to have that on the face

I really need it for invoicing. I am not a fan of pulling out my phone just for stuff like that and I seldom look at the calendar on my computer either.

The date sometimes is more important to me than the time even.

I don't need a date. I especially don't like the cyclops. It calls attention to the fact that it's a Rolex. And when the minute/hour hand are under the cyclops, I find the time less legible

In terms of signing documents, if I'm not 100% sure about the date, I am going to reference my phone or computer. I'm not going to trust a mechanical watch that I may have set incorrectly.

I have many dateless watches and I drive on cloth seats.

I don't mind a date on my watches, but I am partial to cloth seats in my cars.

The thing about cloth seats is that they don't need to be heated or cooled and they feel nice, too.

I think the real question here is how many times a day does one need to be reminded of the date?

Does anyone really need a date on a watch who also owns a calendar, hard or soft?

But man, leather is so much easier to clean, especially with kids!

Ideally, they'd only need to be reminded once

I respect your view on cloth seats. I find the leather car seat obsession about as silly as the preoccupation with granite countertops. Worst is when people freak out about scratches on the leather
