Yes I can see them. When I buy such an expensive item, I expect it to be ‘perfect’ or something like this is indicated prior to purchase.
If you don’t mind slight blemishes on your watches, that’s your right. But I’m not happy with something like this.

for paying that much, i wouldnt take any exceptions to flaws. Good luck in getting refunded from the seller and better luck towards another watch. You work hard for your $$ expect the same in product you purchase.

TBH I agree that these should not be on a brand new Day Date - especially when you spend this kind of money.

I've see worse nitpicking and some examples that were given to me direct from RSC was things like

1) The Dateflip not happening "exactly" at midnight
2) The Day or date wheels are like 1mm off centre - which you cant tell really depends on the angle but all watches can look off.
3) Tiny 2mm Hairline scratch on the gold minute hand that can only be seen under 15x loupe.
4) Common one if rehault not lining up at 12 exactly. This is a common issue and evident in ALOT of rolex's.

So I think ops problems are valid.

In reality if you look at ANY item long enough and hard enough you will find an imperfection or something slightly off somewhere. There is no such thing as perfect.

Anybody bothered by this must never have owned a watch with a 7750 movement.

What are you going to do with the refund? Source another watch from elsewhere?

I hope you insured the package through a third party company. FedEx only insures jewelry items up to $1k regardless the declared value. Occasionally you hear horror stories about seller claiming to have received an empty box. Good luck I hope all goes well.

Any word from seller yet?

It’s the prepaid and insured FedEx return label that the seller send me, as required by eBay.

I don’t agree with having to just accept a flaw on a watch at this price point.

If the watch doesn't feel right it isn't. If you don't like it take care of it now because it won't get any better.

Yes it has Rolex warranty, but that’s not the point.
I returned the watch due to some blemishes on the dial.

Seller just send me a refund for the watch. So everything worked out fine.

I usually purchase from an AD. I am very uncomfortable with a wire transfer. Ebay is about like Craigslist, I would not do them.

No wire transfer. I use PayPal, which has buyer protection.

My sea-dweller 4000 has nothing like this, and costs one third.
At 23k for a 118238,those blemishes no matter how small would be the only thing I noticed which would make me unhappy. Now, if we were talking about a 1601, or a 16013 then I could see overlooking the blemishes, but this isn't the case.

Is it possible to contact the seller, and see if he is willing to cover the cost of repair? If not, then I would consider returning the watch and getting a full refund.

Awesome! Glad it worked out for you. BTW, each and every Rolex I own has a little imperfection something. I consider it character.

Good result, Heringsdorf.
I think it is good that sellers (be they eBay, Grey or ADs) understand that there is an expected standard for an expensive product and where that isn't met, the buyer has the right to return the item for an immediate and unquestioned refund.
Too often we hear about vendors offering to 'rectify' faults on a brand-new product.
NO! it should be replaced or refunded.
