What's the difference in the movement? Is it simply the paraflex shock?

The difference is the Chronergy escapement and 70-hour power reserve, I believe.

The escapement and ceramic rotor bearing are the main updates. The 3186/3187 already have the Parachrom Bleu hairspring. Paraflex replaced KIF over a decade back.

My lowly 3186 holds an awful +0.5 sec per two weeks or +1 sec per month regulation. Power reserve is about 53.5 hours when I ran it on the meter. It's utterly pathetic.

I don't think 3186 has Paraflex.

Yet I think it does have the Parachrom.

BTW, yes that is pathetic performance. How can you ever be on time?

I like new stuff and technology but honestly, I have a hard time getting excited about “new” movements. Longer power reserves are nice, I’ll admit that but other improvements are lost on me.

You're right, I was thinking 3187. Apparently I'm getting old.

They're all cursed. No "my AD said" thread survived very long on any forum. It's just the nature of the beast.

Look on the bright side. On the topic of movement upgrades in the GMT, your AD will prove correct eventually.

"It's just the nature of the beast."

You took the words right out of my mouth.

I'll now think twice before posting any information from an AD.

Maybe one day the mods will decide to post a Sticky that discourages posts about Rolex news from ADs. Some have also suggested they create a sub-forum (though I'm not sure if they're being sarcastic). Until then, it's only a matter of time until the next unsuspecting member gets burned at the stake.

Spend some time on these forums and you'll realize that salespeople at ADs are reliable sources of false information.
Was lurking the forums and accidentally quoted the above post and responsed. My apologies.

I do understand the feeling of speaking to salespeople and knowing more about a brands product line, or history regarding model updates. I just remain patient anr try ro learn something while trying on the watches, or having a look at them under the loupe.

If members aren't allowed to pass along information from an AD, that should be expressly written in TRF's rules.
You are the 1,001st person writing about "My Ad said..."

You got here at the end of the movie.

You think you've got something special here, some special nugget of information from your AD.

We've all seen this show before. It's only you that thinks you just discovered "The Wonder Years" and are running to show the gang, who unbeknownst to you stopped watching the show years ago.

We get it, but it's not what you think.

Thanks for playing.

If I had 3 old model BLNR's a Sea Dweller and 2 Daytonas what would they be worth in 7 years?
Will the new movement fit in the old case, and will Rolex to change it free of charge under warranty?
How much discount can I expect on the new model?

Hello Neighbor! There are only 3 ADs here in MN. May I ask which one said this?

Thanks!

This is great news, I was first but now I'm 39 on the list for the new BLNR with the new movement.

Good thought, but it's time to give up the ghost now that you've been advised by the wise men of your tribe. Yet you persist.

You lack perspective, young padawan.
