For starters, I’d rather see an end to threads complaining about threads members don’t like, which is debatably worse than the threads being complained about.

If there wasn't a shortage, 75% of the TRF's wouldn't even be here.

I will say the following threads are killing it here for me and others...

My AD won’t sell me a sub
My AD won’t sell me a GMT
I demanded the above from my AD and they just laughed. The AD sucks.
Why won’t my AD sell me a Sub. GMT?
Is my Rolex a better investment vehicle then securities or real estate?
Why wearing a Rolex makes me a superior human being.
Is it safe for my Rolex to get (insert descriptive here)
Incoming (insert comic book nickname here)

Please. Make it stop. You are killing a lot of us and this forum.

Welcome to the fun of having a mature forum. It doesn’t matter what the interest is, there will always be threads that everyone has seen or answered a million times before.

You choose the environment that you want to have here...

I believe it’s up to the tenured members to either 1) ignore or 2) respond with class and grace.

Option 3) is to ban, censor, flame, tar & feather these folks. Your forum, your choice, but trust me when I say this typically will not end well (and not just for online message boards).

Just my low post count, Omega wearing, millennial snowflake $.02.

Seems like this is a polarizing topic for the community. For those of you that are saying that it's unfair to ban the shortage threads - that's definitely would not be the intent. It's just a matter of organizing / categorizing differently and as I mentioned, there are plenty of online communities that have similar practices (a mega-thread on a specific topic) to keep some more hygiene in the community. One example here is the WRUW thread. Ultimately that's a decision that is up to the mods of the forum and it's understandable that they already do a lot for us on their own time.

For those of you who are saying that you hate complaining about complaining.. We're all members of this community and there isn't anything wrong with having an open dialogue on if there are potential recommendations or changes that could be made to improve the community.

At the end of the day.. Yes - it's easy to skip over threads that aren't of interest. I have no problem doing that. I understand where these posts come from and for not being here that long, I can only imagine how long-term members of the community might feel about it.

We need to ban sales tax avoidance discussion

No, we don't.

I'm with these guys.

Jeez it is an open-forum for people to talk about about Rolex watches within reason.

And as for the guy who said stop the"incomings" threads. Why not share photos of watches and share the joy with fellow enthusiasts.

Some people just need to lighten up a little, or just not read those threads.

I'm not a psychologist but I believe there are some members who will throw any topic at the wall to see which have staying power and get to three or more pages of responses. There is just a rush by seeing you started it.

50/50 result is a sign of sickness - and only shows that too many members value investments more than the enjoyment of a watch.

As other trends has shown; "when taxi drivers talks about stock investments - the market will soon crash".

Too many taxi drivers on this forum...

I'm bothered by the constant investment threads more than shortage threads, but like others have said, you can skip the threads you don't want to read.

What Ninja said.... plus, I think it would be too effort for the mods to combine all the threads started on this topic into a sticky or single thread as is done w WRUW... is he concerned for the mods’ sanity.

That's true for me!

After literally half a lifetime of wanting a sub, me and my GF finally planned an excursion to the local AD (and this AD is in one of the most expensive sections of the Bay Area, CA. I figured that would be a good start). THAT was a wake up call! In retrospect my expectations seemed hilariously naive but not out of line with expectations regarding almost any other brand; even luxury brands. I mean, at the same mall you can swing by Hermes, Tiffany, Gucci, Omega, Boss and a bunch of similar tier brands and buy anything you want. There is a frickin' McClaren dealership down the street! Why couldn't I buy a 8-9K watch? And not just not buy it today but seemingly not buy it ever!

I was kind of like, "WTF?" So I started doing some internet searching and trying to educate myself some on the current state of affairs... And found this place.

The threads complaining aren't as bad as the threads complaining about all that complaining. We should take a poll what's worse-

Thought this was a forum for people to discuss relevant Rolex topics. Don’t like a thread then move on. Nobody is breaking any rules talking about shortages. In the meantime you’ve attracted a lot of attention here by starting a thread about shortages. How ironic.

I am with you on all accounts.

I am also a 1.

I am also tired of reading about 3s and people shaming gray market dealers, goofy theories that point anywhere other than basic economics and everything else that goes along with it.

The only theory I would have is that most 3s dont have many or any watches to begin with.

To answer the OP, just keep scrolling when you see something not worth your time.

In general, I’m spending less time here lately because of the constant negativity.

I would much rather seen an end to the sarcastic "is it safe" threads; an old joke that stopped being funny a very long time ago.

In contrast, I do think the shortage threads are somewhat useful in sharing info about what ADs are saying.

I think I thought of question that would crash TRF. A post somehow involving a waitlist, a future valuation, and if its safe or not .......

I'm not clever enough, to think of such a scenario though.

Is it safe to wait at an AD to get my Rolex valued?
