IMHO, the sub is the most versatile watch on the entire planet. Goes with anything. I have a substantial collection and value aside, if I had to pick one to wear for the rest of my life, it would be my no-date sub.

Depends on the person. Depends on the suit (& the Sub), but this:

No harm in being traditional imho.

Just can’t help smiling in silence if I see an obvious faux pas in my eyes i.e. wearing sneakers with a suit.
I'm sorry but this needs to be said. The sneaker analogy is stupid.

This question became moot with the wearing of connected devices and devices which all have a sporty look and are worn with anything. But one still must not wear white after Labor Day.

There is no point in asking such a question on an internet forum - it won’t help you. There is a huge variation in taste and what people think looks good. And if we are honest being well dressed and stylish has become something of rarity over the last few generations. Walk around any public space in any country and most people are dressed in the style of an American teenager regardless of their age. In fact most feel self conscious if dressed smartly.

The sixties brought in an age where people wanted to break convention and traditions and the people who learnt their style in those years have not passed much knowledge of how to dress well onto their children. Each generation has lost a little bit more. People now look to clueless celebrities for their inspiration. The worst being the selection of nasty synthetic sports wear you see everywhere. In the grand scheme of things wearing the wrong type of watch with the wrong outfit is splitting hairs. If a suit fits well and is a conventional cut and material and worn with appropriate shoes then you are in the top 1%.

I agree 100%. What I see people wearing now, amazes me.

A well fitted/tailored suit, nice clean jeans (not faded, or ripped), minimalist sneakers, a casual pair of boots, good quality material fabric, and no bold, loud colors. I keep everything simple. Classic outfits are the way to go for me. And of course, a nice watch. I prefer 36mm-40mm watches. My SS Submariner/Date, 36mm DateJust, and 39mm White OP, I wear with any of my outfits. However, if I’m wearing a suit, the 36mm DJ is the watch of choice.

Or the datejust 41, or black strap/white dial.

Only teenage girls wear Apple watches. A true gentleman will never wear an Apple Watch.

They wear Apple watches of course, together with the great ‘unwashed’, no taste, no class, no style.

I don’t like Apple watches for myself - but I know a lot of fine people that do like them. Many of them are also true gentlemen, kind and thoughtful people. You know one thing they all have in common? They don’t going around judging who “true gentlemen” are.

Being a gentleman is just a fake masquerade used to do all sorts of heinous, depraved stuff behind closed doors, come on grow up, we are not 16 any more.

Your so called ‘executives’ are the fake-masquerading types, carrying out heinous, depraved stuff behind closed doors while clutching their executive ‘sheep’ phones.
All Apple watches are made in China (COVID-19 Central) depriving Americans of jobs, a fair wage for a fair days work throughout the US.

It’s funny to observe the great lengths people go to look as cool as Sean Connery.
They never succeed.

Just because you can or think it looks great doesn’t mean it really is.

Luckily it’s a free world where poor and good taste in style are both allowed

Yeah but the people doing it keep asking if it’s okay. Secretly they know it’s wrong to wear a sub with as suit, and do you know why? Because it is..
