Greys must be doing very well now, prices are up. I stopped in to a big time Rolex boutique today and saw the displays emptier than ever, next to nothing. I was speaking with the stores buyer whom I've dealt with before and I was mentioning other brands, he then said,... "Stick with Rolex, the new models will be announced Sept.1st"... as if it were a glimmer of hope on an inventory increase...

The broker gets 10 Daytona's and 100 not so popular models.

He has 10 greys who want to buy from him. Who gets what and how many? Because I never see greys with NEW and not so popular models selling them.

Where do they go?!

Where do they go? Chrono24?! Mr. Grey won't tarnish the appeal of his show window by displaying those.

So who's the broker between Davidsw and the AD? Hehe.. Where's Waldo? He must have several smurfs out and about doing his bidding. :)

"At a reduced AD price?" What are you talking about? Reduced from hyper inflated grey prices? Reads kinda twisted, no?

I just got a 20% discount for the ceramic white dial Daytona at my AD, was that a decent deal? Lol!

Suppose it was. Don't know if this reflects my post in any way, though. However... will you get another one at that price and have you always wanted a friend in Germany?

EXPOSED - Grey Dealer Spills the Beans on ADs?

The guy recording was antagonist. Nothing new with today’s on-film culture

Whether anyone agrees or not with the business practice, the owner of the store was very polite and respectful. He took the time to invite him in and explain the reason for the request for no photos.

I would have told someone recording and this self-righteous to f**k off.

Yes 100%! I was agreeing with you, there is no AD discount for a the hot watches. Still on the Daytona waiting list and refuse to pay 20k+ for a SS watch worth 13k.

Heh heh heh. Did pay my AD another visit yesterday: "My" SA and myself seem to be playing something resembling very basic poker. Still amused here, not getting tired before long.

Tough guy behind the keyboard I suspect. Should be kicked off for saying that.

Business owners and people who work in public or customer relations have more common sense than to do something stupid like that, which can easily be shared on social media.

Two tone also sells well.

I doubt they have any hard moving pieces besides those really quirky ones but there aren't many of those. Plus I don't see greys with small sized female datejusts for sale, so where do they go?
Pretty much. Every single damn model flys out the door these days.

Crazy market

Ha! This is the same guy (Diva in Santa Fe) I mentioned in another thread who was very open about being a grey dealer.

Hyper inflated grey prices ... as a general statement, this is not consistent with my experiences. Both of my brand new, unworn Oyster Perpetual watches were below retail.

I imagine he's afraid of losing his "broker" more than not getting him in trouble

Simply a supply and demand law in play, used to bother me but it's profitable all the way up the ladder .

If the buyer ( end purchase) doesn't mind over paying so be it

Makes me wonder how much Rolex really cares about this practice ?

No, I have a black dial Oyster Perpetual 34mm which is my favorite watch. I also have a white dial Oyster Perpetual 36mm. The 36mm has double indices at 3, 6, and 9. These double indices are fantastic in various lighting conditions.

By the way, DavdSW has an bunch of DateJust watches which are modestly priced. I certainly wouldn't describe them as over priced at all.

Nothing new here. AD sell through the back door for more money. Rolex could ’t care less. Everyone is making money. The only way this will stop is when people stopped paying inflated prices. But that’s not going to happen anytime soon.

Remember it is Manufacturers SUGGESTED Retail Price, not a fixed price. I believe in some markets Rolex does try to insist that their dealers sell at that price, but not all. The real market price is what is negotiated between a buyer and a seller. One is not entitled to purchase what you want at a given price.
