I had to double check to see the model of Sub you traded on your deal and almost fell off the couch when I saw it was a full gold piece. I hope you got more than a little cash back on this deal. But yes, you have to buy and wear what you love.. Enjoy!..

Yes OP you were nuts to do this trade!
For a smurf, yes, but a hulk?!

BUT, as the saying goes... as long as you're happy you got a good deal, that's all that matters!

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I was going to sell the gold sub for quite some time. The most i was offered was 26k. This deal worked out about the same for me. I don’t miss the gold sub.

Hard to say if it was a crazy move or not since we do not know the amount of cash you received (...I hope it was cash your way). I mean, if you received 8 or 9k back then I guess it wasn't too bad.

I wonder if this is actually a real post or someone trying to push the market up.

My question is, you purchased a good sub and a gold Daytona and your AD couldn’t get you a LV? That’s ridiculous in my opinion. This was not that difficult of a watch to get. I understand we all live in different markets but trust me when I say the market I live in has many, and I mean many, whales that spend silly amounts of money. Again, its neither here nor there at this point but I would be very disappointed that your AD couldn’t get you one. How long were waiting?

I agree it is sad. Oh well, when Porsche made it too difficult to buy a GT3 I discovered that buying a Ferrari was even easier, so life goes on.

These kinds of comments are just low class. I don’t understand people they get off to hurling insults from behind their keyboard.

I wouldn’t be walking around with a gold watch in current times. People are getting robbed left and right. The gold Rolex is too bling bling for me.

I wouldn’t take them so offensively. you probably could’ve gotten over 30k for your sub, Or very close to it.

Not for nothing, look at it this way. I bought A 9.7k hulk in 2020 from an AD. You come to me with a straight up trade for a all gold sub you paid 30k for. Forget market price, it wasn’t a very good trade. You win some you lose some. I’ve taken Ls. Just hold your L and your head high. You now own a beautiful hulk

I hear what you’re saying but used subs are retailing at 30k. I’m not a retailer and have no interest in retailing it. The trade price is 25-26k. A buyer like Bobs Watches was at 25. I got some cash back on the deal. I still overpaid for a hulk though. 21k. Keep in mind it never been worn before and I decided to buy the watch at the peak of its price.

I agree with you on everything else. You win some you lose some.

Whatever dude, my least special car is Porsche. Another example of low class. It seems like the high net worth people over here are very civilized and a lot of the other people are not

I think you are crazy asking people on TRF for their opinion, not for doing the deal.

Since you have been lurking here for awhile, you will know one of the biggest critics on this thread predicted prices would go back to MSRP because of CoVid. Arrogance beyond belief.

I'm amazed how many people come here asking for affirmation from Internet strangers.

Do what you want with your money and if you put some thought into it, who cares what the peanut gallery thinks.

Simply a dumb trade as most have already pointed out and if you ask the question on an open forum what sort of answers are you expecting? If you want me to say well done great trade sorry it’s not going to happen

PM for SS seems crazy to a person like me who can only dream of PM but I’ve had two hulks in my time. If you have a few other special watches (which you do!) then as long as it makes you happy. It would not make me happy to swap a full PM for a double/triple priced SS.

I’m ok with anyone saying it’s a bad trade. However, you’re very disrespectful. Maybe your lack of manners is the reason why you drive a 996, the worse 911 ever produced which hasn’t been produced since 2004. Yet, you’re so proud of it that’s it’s your screen name. See, I hate stopping to your level.

Eh, I mean no way you're going to get 30k from dealer. You can buy used that much so a dealer will pay much lower than that, 25-26k prob as OP says. 21k for an almost new hulk seems within range. I can't imagine it's easy to sell a 30k watch private party either. OP probably prefers to deal in person with his dealer than taking the risk of trading with someone else online.
