If you are at DD level, go straight to platinum which is in DD40 only. Most people won’t know what it is.

Both are fantastic. I can wear both comfortably and neither looks strange, although going back and forth makes each other look big and small by comparison.

In originally got a DD36, I thought it was the classic… and had the option to get the DD40 3 years ago. But choose the 36mm YG White dial/ roman’s. Then I bought a Daytona RG chocolate dial 6mos later and that was what turning point for me to the DD40, the weight of more gold! but 36mm is great looking too and feels nice. But o can wear small or large diameter watches. they both will be noticed! 36mm/40mm and always got comments. Everyone call it “Great watch..You have President!” Most comments go to the pick sun-dust Rosegold DD40.

I like both sizes:
36 on the left, 40 in the middle and on the right.

I'm not certain who is the authority on who can wear what size. I am subject to only one authority on the matter, my eye. I've had two 36mm ones and neither did the trick. 40 is my goal. I almost bought a Pt one but got the Platona instead.

This argument has been had over and over again.
If your comfortable with wearing a 36mm these days go ahead. Its your watch and your life. I bought a 36mm DD many years ago to substitute for the 40mm because back then the 40 was just way out of my budget and I could not afford it. The 36mm was less than 1/2 the price. It never satisfied me AT ALL. Its nice and all but honestly just doesnt feel right to me and especially when my GF used to wear it as well and honestly it looked amazing on her and quite small on me. Ended up with a RG 40mm and loved it so much bought a YG DD40 as well. If you are uncertain and you keep looking at the 40mm - let me give you some advice. DO NOT....repeat DO NOT settle for the 36mm. It wont make you happy as much as you try to convince yourself it will. You will eventually sell it and buy the 40mm. Yes both are going up in value but its easier and will work out cheaper to just stump up the cash for a 40mm. Thats the truth that no one on this thread wanted to say. There you go. From first hand experience. |

If you are used to 40/41mm watches, the DD2 is also a good option. Go straight to the platty

I still prefer the 36 in the DD. It wears bigger to me but I have a smaller wrist (1 link out). I think the President bracelet makes it wear bigger than the actual dimensions.

I tried on a DD40 recently and it felt pretty small and light to me compared to what I was expecting. Platinum DD does feel much more significant. All depends on the person. The proportions were great. DDII are distinctively less attractive and disproportionate.
Can’t go wrong with a DD36 though.

I prefer the 40
And it doesn’t really wear or feel that big for me in fact might be about the smallest suitable size for me |

What I dislike about the new DDs are the polished cases. Much prefer the brushed cases with the polished sides.

I have a 7.25 inch wrist. I had a 36mm DD as my daily driver for 16 years, then as the DDII at 41mm was introduced, I purchased one. Over time the proportions of that watch began to look off, especially when the DD40 came out. The DJII was also replaced with the DJ40. Given I could get out of the DDII and into a new DD40 for $1,000 in 2020, I pulled the trigger. The 39.5mm of the DD40 is ideal in my mind.
