Advice on getting "real" with my AD

The AD is not going to give you anything. Move on. Unless you buy some non Rolex goods.

I had past jewelry and Tudor purchase and now I am on there good list.

I have to say, everytime they offer me a Rolex, I just buy…. So they know I pay right away everytime, hence, on there good list (but not good enough for a Daytona…)

On Chrono 24, the lowest priced unworn 126622 YM stainless with a slate dial is $15,250. So they are still above MSRP of $12,300, plus tax.

Find a friend with an AD, have them introduce you. I did this a few years ago, worked wonders.
This, find someone in your entourage with a good existing relationship and get introduced. That's how I got my SD43 within a month

A $2g premium to save 3 years of simping to an AD seems like the deal of the century, to me

Maybe i value my time and dignity higher than most...

Wow, great replies and feedback! The AD is Kempf in Indialantic for those that asked.. I'm starting off my collection that I'll give my son one day, so will continue to frequent the local AD, but also reach out to the AD in Boca I bought my BB 58 from. So, after getting feedback here and a little kick in the ass by yall I went to DavidSW and came home with my first Rolex!! Pepsi GMT in excellent shape with the full set included. Also got it under what they were asking after some good conversation with the guys. I'm so stoked right now!!

For your own piece of mind, do NOT keep playing these idiotic waiting games and imaginary priority lists with any AD. Pay the premium, go with a reputable secondary market seller (DavidSW and Takuya Watches are really excellent), and get what you want - sized and all - within a couple of days. I speak from experience as someone with a very long relationship and heavy spending history with one AD company. TWENTY months trying to get an SD43 with no luck - went grey and got a brand new one. Just did the same thing with the new Deepsea JC 136660 - 20% premium (a big bite) but I got exactly what I wanted - brand new, unworn and they sized it for me. I was wearing it within 72 hours. My AD couldn't tell me if I'd get one next week or 2 years from now. It's not worth that nonsense - not even a little bit. I've never regretted either purchase. My only regret is playing that stupid waiting game WAY too long.

Shameful state of affairs. Essentially being extorted to buy a damn watch. Sickening.

Nice! Congratulations. I still think you have a good chance to get the YM from a different AD. I wouldn't go grey for it. (And I am not throwing shade on the YM, I have one.)

You've just guaranteed the AD will be calling you tomorrow telling you your YM is in!

That GMT is gorgeous, congrats my friend !

Congratulations on you new watch!

When an AD takes that long and doesn’t level with you, it’s time to move on. Next time however, if purchasing other brands, find a Rolex AD that sells that brand and stick with them. But, make your intention of obtaining certain Rolex pieces very, very, and politely clear..

Three year wait without the call is wild! Now that you've got the GMT (congrats!), are you still considering the YM?

No, the OP’s strategy will not work. Did you read his post? He‘s already waited THREE years. And begged every 6 weeks. For a not very desirable model. No, he ain‘t getting any Rolex from that AD. Ever.

A lot of people keep saying this, but last i checked, ADs were still empty, "wait lists" were full and people are still buying jewelry to get anything of interest

I feel like this whole "the market will be below retail again" state of mind is wishful thinking this side of 2030 (or longer)

Either that or supply will increase once "retail" is 40% higher than it is now

I finally told them I'm interested in the Rhodium YM and the owner told me he'd put me down for when one came in, etc. I return about every 6 weeks to check inventory and talk watches and I know they know who I am as the owner has come out the back and said hello. Anyways, its been now close to 3 years since I've been going in and really feel like a lost cause. The last time about 6 weeks ago I asked if they get any updates from Rolex which they told me "no". Any suggestions on what I should do or ask? I'm afraid I'm gonna go buy grey and then the next week get "the call" lol. Appreciate any help :)
The amount of time you spent over 3 years probably equates to double the retail of the watch. This watch is easily had for a few grand over retail you can have it at your door by Saturday.

Congats! You did the right thing

Wish I had a large well-stocked grey nearby. There's one in San Antonio based on chrono23 listings but he's hugely overpriced (eg. 18k for a very beat up BLNR), and not a TRF seller. Those on the West coast are fortunate to have both OCwatchguy (Patrick) and Justrolexes (Tony.)
