I may visit an AD in Toronto tomorrow. Then again 15% taxes do not sound good. I think I get a partial refund when I leave the country though.

Depending what you buy it could be better to find a cheap flight to Alberta and only pay 5% You certainly wouldn't be alone...

Sad thing is, we will all get used to the prices and everything will somehow be fine in a few months. We will be talking about our new Daytona and Sub purchase etc. Don't forget, that these yearly (or less) increases are what keeps our older Rolex increasing in value. Isn't that one of the reasons we like these so much?????

AD indicated today that just the Professionals are going up... Daytona going up the most - $750.00 I think. Price increase was announced with very little warning is my understanding.

100% official there will be a price increase October 1st. As far as it looks no Datejusts, Air-Kings, Presidents, etc are affected at all. Seems to be the Professional models only. As others have said the SS Daytona appears to have the largest jump in price. All others have gone up approximately $200-$300.

Taxes in Ontario are 13%, 8% pst and 5% gst.

Where you buying and being charged 15% taxes, I recall VAT in the European Union is 17% which is fully refundable if you live outside the union.

price increase...

Well, considering that Rolex watches are purely "luxury" items...price increases shouldn't be a big deal. If you are able or willing to spend $6000 on a watch, $6400 shouldn't matter. As for the Daytona, It's only a matter of time before Rolex put the price up again and again...lol...to at least match or surpass the GM prices. After all, that has been money that Rolex has "left on the table" and could have been putting in their own pockets instead of flipper's. In my mind, it's a good business decision to increase prices if you can get it. After all if the price increases on a Daytona by $750 and they sell 2000 (just a random number) of them, that's an extra $1.5 mil for doing nothing....not bad for one model in bad economic times. That being said, no one likes spending extra...myself included...but if gas, food and everything else (that is needed) can go up, why not luxury items that aren't "needed".
Just my 2 cents...have a great day everyone!

Futher to what Rolexx997 said, I dont see what everyone is complaining about since it's not like all the other luxury watch brands never increase their prices. It's not only Rolex that increase their prices, AP, Panerai, Breitling all do it, and often awsell!

To follow up from my post yesterday, brother-in-law bought and paid for M serial SD. Paid £3200.

Phoned back today to arrange collection etc and the AD told him that everything had gone up [B]15%[B]. That is well above what everyone else was talking about. That's a lot of dosh!!!

Now makes the SD £3770 rrp - WOWOWOWOW

Agreed 100%. Don't get me wrong. I don't like the idea that my next Rolex is going to cost me more and more. I want 'em cheap, but it is a LUXURY....

Guess I don't have to have a third. I'm lucky to have two.

I used to agree, but not think there are consequences. Sure the super rich will continue to buy. But people in my situation won't. It just doesn't make much sense anymore (arguably didn't make sense to begin with). I think this hurts Rolex with customers that plan to buy more than one more than those who are saving to buy their first. and if this board is at all indicative of rolex owners, you can't buy just one . . . unless you get priced out.

I guess it all comes back to the point that Rolex sell every watch they make. If this were not the case, a price increase would not work but it seems that the public is still able to accept higher prices for their product. They don't care if you and I buy them or Donald Trump as long as they sell...plus, I don't think the average working class guy/gal is their target group.
Why does it cost me $500 if I want to go watch a Maple Leaf game but I can see an infinitely better hockey team play in Pittsburg for $160? It's whatever the market will accept....and with the Rolex name, they feel there is still room to move.

Just came from AD with my buddy in tow and he walked out with a beautiful new Deep Sea...$9250 USD MSRP....I had read it was gonna be $8970-ish so I believe it may have gone up in the past day or two? Man, that was a sweet watch...Much more impressed after seeing it in person than I was seeing the press releases and photos so far....

I just returned home from SF RSC. My TT DJ with Jubilee bracelet that had an MSRP of $8750 now has an MSRP of $9050. I saw the old and new price lists myself. When I got home, I called my insurance broker to increase the amount of coverage. Then I came here to spread the word.
