Not all rumors are wrong. The SD4K discontinuation was a rumor too. Until it wasn't. The BLRO reports are following the same pattern. Nothing is certain until it's official, but every piece of information I've seen on this matter makes sense and adds up. I have yet to see a reason to doubt it.

Contrast that with The Letter, where there is a ton of conflicting information regarding the production and supply of sports models, and no one really knows what's up. It's a totally different situation compared to this one, and isn't a fair comparison.

Click on the Rolex site; it stands front and center when clicking on the GMTs. I seriously doubt they've discontinued it.

There is still stock at dealers. It makes sense they would continue to show it, even if they're no longer making or shipping it.

Does anyone know how long it took Rolex to remove the SD4K from their website last year after ADs were reporting they could no longer order it? Was it even before Basel?

Very easy to delete it from the website. Maybe that is coming soon. As far as sales the watch is a dog. BLNR probably outsells it 100:1

There are hundreds of thousands of them. If anything we were told the reason they were going up was because the Pepsi was now only available in gold. That watch has now been discontinued because it was a slow seller. Should have the opposite effect on the 16710’s now.

Cheers, not taking new orders does bode this way.

Could be good news for owners if it is gone, depending on what they release in its place, if anything.

If Rolex does that, then the WG version will further lose value on the secondary market. Why pay in the mid $20k for a used WG Pepsi when I can get a SS version new from an AD for under $10K.

Five out of how many ADs? Hearsay and rumor until someone produces an email, letter etc.
Some get a letter, info from some rep, emsils etc. etc. But nothing we can see

I don’t remember the year Rolex discontinued the DDII, but I do remember it was very abrupt.

And when do you think you'd be able to get one at msrp from an AD? 2 years? 5?

My AD has had one in the case every time I am in there. Until they discontinue them. Won’t be able to keep in stock!!

Edit: you meant a SS Pepsi I believe. So yes, probably 10 years and gray market will be $15,000 for years. Like SS Daytona.

Yeah. I, for one, won't spend a penny more the $37,999.99 on a watch. That's my absolute limit. And I imagine that's the limit for most people, really.

The GMT the first watch to get the updated bulkier case, and that transition started with the PM models. Maybe they with just release a tweaked version with a slimmer case and begin a case upgrade cycle.

Got the idea from this blogger speculating on the release of a new sub with a slimmer case:

The SS version will initially be $30k when the grey dealers get their hands on them.
Discontinuing the WG in front of releasing the SS will only make grey resellers happy. If there's a PM version available, it limits the extent of the grey market ripoff factor.

For what it’s worth Govberg has reported they have been told the watch will no longer be shipped, so maybe it’s true. We shall see.

A lot earlier than that. My ad told me in late November, 2016. I posted about it in December, 2016. Other posters began mentioning too in December. Those are all on record.

Despite that, people still think that ads know nothing in advance, only Rolex knows their plans prior to Basel, and no rumors can be true.

It's such a myopic pov, but people stick to it dogmatically in this forum.

Anyway op, I didn't hear the same rumor but who knows ...

Further.
History has repeatedly shown that Rolex don't necessarily update their website as a matter of very high priority.
As an example. Where on the website does it show all the dial options for the Skydweller?
Rolex kept the discontinued 16610lv on their website until a month or two after Basel, 2010. I know for a fact it was still listed two weeks after Basel concurrently with the 116610lv. Others may recall that too. And they were still at dealers nib early into 2011.

True story.
