Was my first Rolex. Don’t wear it as often as others, but it’s s nice wear to a dinner or evening meeting. I’ll never get rid of it.

Keeping in mind that the only opinion when it comes to watches is *MINE* it doesn't matter one whit what I choose to buy.
For the record: I was 28 when I purchased My TT Air King Date, fluted bez and Jubilee. Never once did I hear "Old man's watch". I *did* hear a lot of: "nice watch", "cool piece", "Man, wish I had one". Put that in your pipe and smoke it naysayers. No offense intended. Mark Sent from my SGH-I547C using Tapatalk |

Contrary to most, I'd rather have a DJ over either a Hulk or Daytona.......call me crazy I guess.

Agreed, personally, I find something a bit pretentious about a non-diver wearing a dive watch (probably most Sub owners), kind of like a Land Rover owner who only drives it around his suburban neighborhood.

Now you guys got me thinking I should take a look at an 116234 silver stick on my wrist. I can't believe how much better these pieces look on brown leather as opposed to the bracelet (IMO)...... |

I think some of the ill will towards DJs may a gut reaction to the classic jubilee bracelet, which I happen to like a lot, but I can understand some people don't really bond with. I love the silky feel on the wrist, lightness, ruggedness, and ability to hide scratches and abrasions from actual sporty use. But depending on the dial and bezel pairing with them, they can be very dressy for some tastes. But the DJ watch head itself is so essentially and completely Rolex in character and execution, it closely rivals the Sub to me as the definitive reference Rolex, if you were trying to explain what makes a Rolex a Rolex to someone from another planet. And I love Subs, a whole lot. |

Well, I try not to use a Rolex and NEED together. But, biased view is that a Rolex collection wouldn’t be complete without a DJ.

Or course not. But I do think the DJ may be the best “one and only” watch, at least for my life. Elegant, goes with anything, don’t have to worry about it, etc.

I find the rhodium dial/Jubilee bracelet 41mm Datejust one of the best watches Rolex make, and I've had a lot of them, including Daytonas, Subs, Sd43 and so on.
I think people on forums are unrepresentative of Rolex customers in general. Remember, it's the DJ that sells and sells, decade after decade. TZ customers are a tiny, tiny, part of the market. We're 'niche' customers. Incidentally, my real love is the 40mm Day Date. What a watch. |

Agreed. My first Rolex was a DJ, then I ran the course through professional models, but I’ve settled back down on my original preference in a daily watch, although it’s now of the Tudor Date+Day variety.

My first two Rolex were DJ. I'm kind of leaning towards an OP39 in white but if l wanted a date l do like a DJ 2 or 41 smooth bezel, oyster with a silver dial.

My first rolex was a dj36 and I've had one in the collection ever since. Just now it is the dj41. Love the jubilee with fluted bezel. So I say yes to every collection needing some sort of dj. :-)

Anyone have a DJ with MOP dial? That's probably my favorite.

Well, not sure if everyone "needs" one, but I find that I wear my DJ 41 smooth bezel, blue face more than any of my other's. I wear a suit every day and the DJ fits under my sleeve better than my other Rolex watches.
I would agree with an earlier poster that everyone (at least us here at TRF) "needs" a Sub. |

I think everyone needs one. They just do everything perfectly! I take mine to work, the gym, offroading, camping, touring, hunting, and fishing, and it never seems out of place.
