Opinions will differ. That's why we don't all drive black Fords.

i love my 2 5 digit references and really cant choose between my GMT and Explorer 2 - both are classic Rolex models that i find wear perfectly - never selling either one

16610lv with a black insert is close. Still “cheaper” build quality (by no means cheap though) so no cigar. 126610 is very close, but 41mm, large bracelet.. nope. Daytona’s close, but pcl, so no. Explorer 1 is extremely close but dial proportions drops it a step below perfection. Final 2 that are as close to perfect as it gets are 126710blro (if not too flashy for you), and the winner IMO... 114300 black and / or white.

Honorable mention (slightly to thick and top heavy, otherwise absolute perfection) is SD4K.

FWIW, I have explorer 1 and fat boy 116610ln. Love them but far from perfect!

Completely agree and would also add that the previous generation OP36 (reference 116000) feels great, has an outstanding bracelet, and easily surpasses expectations as a great daily driver.

I think it's another vote for the SD4K from me. It has everything I need, it's the right size for my wrist and its just that little be different to make it special.
I don't believe theres such a thing as the "perfect" watch but there is such a thing as the perfect watch for now.

For me it’s the EXP II, value/price/design is unbeatable. I used to believe the 16610 was the one until I purchased this one.... ; )

Shape-wise is indeed perfect. Love wearing it when I travel, as it goes unnoticed. Aside from that, I find it just slightly underwhelming, occasionally.

I would suggest the Submariner ND or the Explorer 1. For me simpler is better.

Daytona for me--perfect proportions, visually interesting 3 subdials/bezel/pushers, 100m WR perfect for daily wear, elegant yet masculine, playboy race car driver vibe.

16710. Jumping hour hand, 3 time zones. Light and bulletproof.

8 OEM watches in one. (Or however many different inserts and straps you want to use.)

Ok I've got to be the one to say it. "Most Perfect " is a silly comment. Something is either perfect or it's not. There is no variations of perfect.

Whoops I checked with Google and there is a ‘most perfect’. Here’s Google’s response:

“There is no such thing as “more perfect.” It's either perfect or the most perfect. These two options are the only options that are grammatically correct. There are some quality adjectives that do not admit of different degrees and therefore cannot be compared: eternal, perfect, round, square, unique, universal.”

Must be this one!
With three inserts and two bracelets, you get 6 watches in one!

The 114060 is now titled "last of the best" because it's the last classic 40mm in the range.

For current Rolex models, it has to be the Sky-Dweller.

From an engineering and design marvel, as an engineer I truly believe DSSD is the one. Are there any other watches from other manufacturers that can achieve that depth and are wearable and look like a normal watch? (I am truly asking here, would like to know.)

From a quality point of view, I want to say Day Date, but in reality, I think DJ dials and DD dials are of similar quality really.

Just for conversation, my idea of the "best" or "iconic" grail Rolexes would be a Platona and a DD40 with the gun blued hands and numbers. Damn, these are two pretty watches with substance to back it.
