Years ago I worked with a guy who, when he first met anyone, would make sure that they knew his watch (SS Sub black dial, no date) was a Rolex. And not just a Rolex, mind you, but, "A Rolex - just like James Bond wears". So, if you really want people to know, I guess you just tell them up front.
Anyway, enjoy! Your Rolex is a great watch. |

It's a valid question, I believe that students today prefer technology over good old fashioned engineering. As more time goes by, the younger cloud is moving more towards digital watches, plus not with the smart watch craze, it's no wonder mechanical powered timepieces are falling to the wayside. Of course, this is just my opinion. Also I believe you should just enjoy your Rolex for yourself, you didn't buy it for everyone else to look at.

Started posting the beginning of August, started 24 threads in a month of which five were closed and then banned before the end of the month. That must be some sort of record.

I think that's an age group that really doesn't care about watches yet. In college (88-92) I always wore Casio's and Timex. I vaguely knew what a Rolex was. In my mid 20's I migrated to Tag's. In the early 30's to Omega's. Bought my first Rolex at 37 (now own seven Rolex's). But back in college, I wouldn't have cared or known any better. I just needed a cheap watch to keep me on time for class. I didn't care what others were wearing either. Although weirdly...back then I always noticed watch straps...NATO strap...surfer blue...rubber...diver red or orange. Not the cheap watch on the wrist...but who had the cool strap. haha

My close friends and I do notice nice watches that our classmates wear, but that puts us in the minority as no one else seems to care.
Granted, we do live in Geneva so the number of people (including students) wearing high end watches is rather high. I've seen 14 year olds wearing Hublots, and while some may think they're fake, our ex-school has hosted some ridiculously high wealth students so it's become expected. |
