The 16610 is too small on my frame in my opinion, but the 116610 looks great.

40 mm isn't small regardless of wrist size...perfect fit. And, the Sub wears larger than it is.

i guess my opinion is jaded because i have big flat wrists.... i guess 40mm is probably perfect for most of the normal sized folks..

Very subjective question, It all depends on your body build and wrist size.
Its like asking if a size 32 pant is too small and others complaining a 36 is too big.
I never get this too big/small threads, useless imo.

Here's a pic of my Sub on my 8.75" wrist. I've never thought it was too small, but after a wearing a Speedy for a week or so, it does take a little to adjust to. I can get away with wearing a larger watch, but a 44mm on a 7" wrist

I think anything bigger than 40mm begins to look cheap, unless of course its a DSSD!

It's just fine for most of people, but if your wrist is into high 7's or more range, it may start to look small.

I agree, they made a good decision to make it chunkier rather than simply making it bigger. 40mm is the perfect size for a mans watch and anything bigger than 45mm just looks silly (unless you're the Hulk).

40 mm isn't too small BUT 42mm certainly isn't too big for a sport watch for the vast majority of wrist sizes imo. (i.e. 6.25 inches and above more or less.)

I think that 40mm is a little small. Would rather see 42 or 43mm.

something I have noticed is for example the current Sub looks bigger than many 42mm Omega's or Breitling's. Omega's (Seamaster line) for example wear small compared to their advertized size where Rolex tends to wear big for their advertized size.

I remember when i bought my first sub, it was the biggest watch i knew of and it took a while to get used to and it took a while for other manufacturers to come up to the 40mm size.
I would say Panerai was the first larger watch to gain acceptance & break the 40mm barrier.

Sometimes 40mm looks a bit small on me, when compared to the wrist shots, where the lugs sit flush with edge of the wrist.

I guess the 40mm is perfect but not as perfect as it was .... 42mm could easily fit the bill today.

I would have been sold on a 42mm sea dweller "NSDS" (not so deep sea)

I agree with you that Panerai popularized the "too big" watch look. However, the Omega Speedmaster had been acceptable at 42mm for a long time prior to Stallone and Arnold sporting their "manly man" PAMs.

dont get me wrong, even though i have 8" wrists i know my limits. i wouldnt be wearing a 60mm or something that hung over the edges of my wrist....

i guess its really noticeable to me because its 8" and flat across the top. believe me i wish it was closer to 7" so i could have a million more options on watches that i liked....

maybe i can get some surgery! ill be the first guy to get a wrist reduction so i can wear smaller watches!! lol.

(i know i can actually wear them, just personally do not feel they look the best on me)

Even 'the last bastion' (Rolex) realized that 40mm is generally too small for a modern day mans sports watch, that's why they super sized the new case. If they had kept the old style but just upgraded it to say 42mm if would be vastly outselling the current one.

Vastly, as in 30%+ more sales? Probably not. It would, however, look better without the fat case.

Sorry if I didn't explain myself properly. I did not mean more units sold. I meant, if the watch buying public had the choice between the two.

Yes way too small. It's a boys/woman's watch.
Come Mods close this thread. This is just old. There a lot of oversized watch threads out there. Is this too big for my wrist. Yes if you need to ask.
Does this watch make me look fat. No it's your face that makes you look fat.

This post is intended to be fun. No posters were hurt. I hope.

Who cares? I think is the right size, but I only have a 7.5 wrist size, so it looks just fine

I think it's just about right the way it is. Personally, I wouldn't be too keen to wear a watch larger than 40mm. Any bigger just doesn't look right on me.

I think 39mm-41mm is perfect for most men's wrists. Just my .
