Problem with a seller

Anybody had a transaction that didn't go completely smoothly? I'm not talking about fraud, just dealing with a HUGE pain-in-the.....

I'm getting harassing phone calls from one seller after leaving him completely honest and legitimate negative feedback on eBay. I'm going to point him to this message, and if the phone calls persist, I'll disclose full information about the seller and the transaction.

Let me just say that I understand the need to maintain a reasonable margin, but if a buyer inquires about a watch, it's extremely bad form for a seller to:

1) Raise his price after the inquiry
2) Then tack on a new shipping charge
3) And then request an additional fee for credit card use *after* payment has been sent

I have no problem with fees disclosed up front or fees bundled into the asking price. But nobody likes to get nickeled-and-dimed on a large transaction....

If you got a legit product and you agreed to pay for whatever was asked for why leave a negative feedback? i have been a buyer on ebay for quite sometime and have only left 1 negative feedback (FRAUDULENT RELATED / MISREPRESENTED) and the seller did it intentionally! Besides that i wouldnt leave anyone a Negative But thats my 2 cents.
Also from your short story it looks like you pissed this guy off and made him be a Pain By your Negative Feedback ect. We are all members here but you seem like you took it way out of line if the product in question was as represented. As a buyer are you satisfied with your product recieved? Shipped In Timely Manner? If both of these are yes Than Just move on to your next purchase dont you think?

I considered letting it go, but the seller had such an easy save -- he could have simply eaten the credit card fees after he received my payment -- he had the margin to cover it.

I also told him that I was happy to accept a refund and cancel the transaction since the additional fee no longer made financial sense for me -- other sellers offered better terms and pricing. Instead of issuing the refund and canceling the transaction, he held onto my money and the watch, and issued a reduced credit card fee invoice.

How would you feel? Seller has your money. And he implicitly refuses to ship until you pay a second invoice. Would that make you a happy camper? Would you leave positive feedback just because you finally got the watch? Would you let it go? Or would you neg him?

I agree, I have walked from deals like you describe (auto related).

Hmmmmmm......I think there's more than meets the eye here.

I find your responce a little interesting kiddoe23, true but interesting, maybe a burn't seller?

Bought my wife a watch her new rolex last week, almost paid retail + tax in our local AD but decided to look on ebay. Found the same exact model for a few thousand under the cost paid shipping, and credit card fees and still saved over 1500.00 at the end of the day. I was a happy camper just to save that much at the end of the day the "small fees" shouldnt bother anyone once you actually look at what you saved and im sure you didnt even have to pay tax? I left my seller positive feedback after the fact and didnt even question myself leaving him a negative specially after i took it to my local AD and got the appraisal/replacement value for over 1500 more than what i paid.

Yes, there is. I believe ebay and paypal established a policy that prevents sellers from asking the buyer to cover their fees. This was how the seller circumvented that policy.

I imagine it's standard practice among ebay sellers. Anybody know for sure?

Ive walked away from a ton of car deals (the worst people to deal with imo ) I dont know the full details but it seems like the extra $ was nothing to wine about? Furthermore if Anyone holds my money when i want it back and i use my cc i would go and dispute the charge and get my money back, not pay the "extra" fees and then write about it, My Money Is My Monies..

I'd have left negative feedback and reported him to eBay, then had the credit card company cancel the charge if he wouldn't.

That's ridiculous.

Ive walked away from a ton of car deals (the worst people to deal with imo ) I dont know the full details but it seems like the extra $ was nothing to make or break the deal? Also Anyone holds my money when i want it back and i use my cc i would go and dispute the charge and get my money back, not pay the fees and then write about it, My Money Is My Monies..

Yes, that is absolutely correct. I have been on ebay for over 10 years and am a Powerseller. In the US it is against PayPal policy that a seller can tag on the PayPal fees to buyers. I recently had a conversation with eBay about a seller listing items and requiring bank wires or checks and requesting buyers to contact him for "other payment methods." When contacted, he requested a fee for PayPal. Ebay confirmed that this is against PayPal policy. I would simply take this up with PayPal and eBay.

Had an interesting Ebay experience about nine months ago...I left neutral feedback after sending a PayPal e-check for a $300 purchase...the recipient tried many excuses for basically not doing his job (ie. finding my payment), they even filed non payment action in Ebay against me (which was resolved within 12hrs of sending PayPal confirmations).

Finally got the product shipped...left honest feedback about (1) never use PayPal e-check, and (2) poor communication...got an email about a week after my feedback was posted (they never posted feedback for me!) offering a free product if I changed my feedback to positive...they ship damaged products as well, some with minor scrapes, etc, so I simply questioned if the product was damaged and what kind of damage, and also the model number since I had recently purchased a similar item...never got a response...

Then last week I see an item of for sale on one of their "Ebay" monikers, go to place a bid as the auction was about to finish...got an msg back telling me the "Ebay Seller has blocked you from bidding on their items"... had a good laugh at that...

Your issue isn't about being nickel and dimed, your lawful purchase is being held hostage by a seller who deserves some "honest feedback"...

I think that a seller should be transparant from the begining....he cant hold the money & watch and ask for extra cost.this is not ethical! the least you can do is a negative feedback

Seems to me as this has nothing to do with similiarity in the transaction above, i have used echeck and take 3days to clear.
