Submariner ND COSC
I have a few questions about this model:
1. Is it true that it was discontinued? 2. What is the US retail price of this from an AD? 3. How rugged is this watch? Would it be possible to play sports with it? Would it withstand hits against something (right on the crystal) hard at a reasonable speed? (not as hard as using it as a hammer per se, but the usual bumps and hits of life) 4. If you have one, have you ever considered selling it, why? Thanks in ahead. How hard would it be to obtain the non COSC approved model? More expensive? Less? The two missing lines of text make it look nicer IMO. |

The Sub has been pretty much made continuously since 1953 without loosing much of it's current look.
The latest version, the 14060M is the same for the past 20 years except picking up the extra lines of paint and an etched rehaut this past year....

#2. Don't know #3. Depends on what's hitting it. Rubber? Probably OK. Diamond, not OK. #4. I had one, sold it because I have a Sub LV and thought it was silly to have 2 subs... regret it every day. I'm going to buy it again in a few weeks when my watch fund is replenished. :-) It's a really great watch. The non-COSC model is usually less expensive by a few hundred $. Both are pretty easily available. |

the no date cosc sub are now out again in local ADs here in Manila. it retails for about $4,750 here... it is now the least expensive sport rolex watch (except for the Exp I).
i guess, it's pretty tough (though i don't have one)... but this would be a subjective answer... hmmmm, i'd save up for the date version which is roughly $625 more... i guess it depends if you really want / need a date function... but as it is, a timeless (or should i say, "dateless") classic! |

This model is still available, but tongues are wagging that Rolex will pull the pin on them, if they do I'm well prepared, it is a very rugged watch that can handle anything exept a steam roller!

My answers to your questions...
1. Not yet. But the non-COCS version has been discontinued.
2. Don't know. Should be among the lowest in the whole Rolex lineup 3. Mine has been holding up pretty good. Went biking wearing this watch with my son the other day. Still ticking. Put the watch on the arm of the sofa one nite and my wife accidentially kicked it to the ground while napping in the sofa. Hey still ticking. 4. No way because it's the most classic model of Rolex. non cosc is the same watch, but without the extra two lines and a piece of paper, same movement, same case, same bracelet.

It's a very clean looking piece and somewhat rugged too.
I'd been thinking about getting one over the last few days....and yesterday I tried a non cosc version. In all honesty I was a little disappointed of how light it felt. That is however mainly in the bracelet, I wear a ss daytona each day and it's fairly heavy aided by the solid middle links. I'll probably opt for the sea dweller... So if you haven't already, go check a 14060 out and see if it's you....really it's the only way to settle your mind. Great fun too.. Last edited by Alsey; 9 November 2009 at 10:19 PM..
