"new" d series 16610 Service???
Hello. I just bought a "d" series sub. The old owner says it hasn't been worn. NIB.
So I am just wondering when no one uses these watches, does the 5 year service apply. Does it need to be oiled? Any help would be great. Thank You. Last edited by red996; 14 November 2009 at 02:03 PM.. Reason: spelling |

I'd certainly have the gaskets checked. When did s/he actually purchase it? If it still has some warranty left, might as well have it serviced.

Hmm, too bad, a year or so out of warranty. I'd just take it to a watchmaker with pressure testing equipment and see what condition the gaskets are in. If those need to be replaced anyways, might as well send it in. Otherwise, I'd give it two or three years, assuming it's running spot on now.

so you should be fine until 2010-2011.. just do a checkup with a good watchmaker.. to be safe.. and peace of mind..

If you plan to dive with it, have it pressure tested..
Otherwise, it should be good for at least 5 years...

Just remember: The rolex service/maintenance for subs is from their point of view that these watches are being used for what they were designed for: water, diving etc .... since most people wear them in offices, your service interval is probably 10x longer than what it should be ... I have a 12yr old sub ... never serviced it ... ticks like new!
