Shopping help needed, Hong Kong
I will be in Hong Kong the first week of December. I will take the opportunity to shop for a Rolex.
The ones I am interested in are: Milgauss, basically any of them but especially the GV. I also like the DJ2 alot, specially 116333, the TT with green arabic on a grey dial. The 116334 white dail is very nice too. I was wondering if any of you could help me out with the MRSP for these watches in Hong Kong and also what discount I can expect. I am also picking up a "Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Yellow Gold/Steel MOP, White Dial" for my wife. Is there any where I can buy the watches at the same location to get the best deal? Just to give you where I come from in Sweden the MRPS for the watches are: Milgauss GV: $7900 Milgauss w or b: $7400 DateJust II 116334 white dail: $9200 DateJust II 116333 TT grey dail: ??? but for sure around $11-12k Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra Yellow Gold/Steel MOP: $12600 So please help me out here and also if you can point me to a good AD or grey dealer in Hong Kong. If you by any chance now the MRSP + "normal" discount in New York feel free to write that. Your help is much appreciated BR Daniel |

The MSRP in HK will be the same, and from my experience, the discount level will be around 7-9% (cash will get you a better price). AD's are all over the popular areas (Causeway Bay, TST, etc). Have fun as HK is Rolex heaven !

Check out the CHOW TAI FOOK stores, they carry an amazing amount of stock in their shops . Bring cash and play hard ball , you should get a good deal out of them .
Enjoy the trip |

Hi
Normally all AD in HK will offer 8 % discount for unpopular style, you get can Milgauss with 8 % discount, but not GV ( no Discount )and also there will be hard to buy GV and you just walk in customer |

Grey dealer in Hong Kong offer very good discount 15 to 20 % off the retail prices which is very attractive.
But be warned, if you are going to buy in grey dealer, you have to be careful and have much knowledge about the watch Because most of the grey dealer in Hon Kong sell the second hand as well as brand new, I have heard some FAKE / DODGY story in grey dealer in Hong Kong. Be winner , not loser Do anyone have good or bad expereince in buying rolex in grey dealer in H.K.? |

Just pick up my Milgauss GV last month at an AD in Central district with no discount. MSRP in HK is 48,600 = 6,230 US. Though you would probably have a hard time looking for one. Good luck and Have fun in Hong Kong SAR(Special As ROLEX)

For authorised ADs in Hong Kong, the maximum discount that they can offer to walk-in customers is 8% as Rolex would not allow them to go any further.
I bought a GMT IIc from Great Shanghai Watch (a grey dealer) at 58 Russell Street, Causeway Bay on Hong Kong Island at 15% discount off MSRP. The watch is with 888 country code (the one for Hong Kong) and the card was stamped by an AD. I was told that ADs in Hong Kong sell to grey dealers as well in order to boost their sales number (something to do with the minimum quota that they have to meet annually) and they are more comfortable to sell the watches to the grey dealers at costs since it is not that easy for Rolex to proof such practice. Go and have a look at Great Shanghai Watch and you will be amazed at the collection that they have got from the standard SS models to those with diamonds all over the place. The shop is reputable and has been at the same location for ages. I don't think you can get any discount though for the GV and Great Shanghai Watch should have one in stock. Last time when I visited the shop (approx 2 months ago), they don't have the DJ II as yet but no harm to see if they have got one now. Good luck. For the GV, you should be able to get one at around USD6,500 (or even less) from Great Shanghai Watch.

I'm from HK and I've recently been searching the local market for watches. My understanding is that you should be able to get 8% for most Rolex ADs - with exceptions for maybe some hot ticket items. If you have some one who lives in HK, then give the Rolex HKG Cust Service a call and ask them to post you a catalogue. That will include the lasted prices MSRP. Then when you land in HK you can pickup the catalogue at least. Secondly, after some price searching, for the Omega, there are quite a few OMEGA boutique stores in HK. They are all FIXED price. However, if you go to an OMEGA AD, they offer 5% off which I think is pretty consistent across the board. Ironically, the Omega MSRPs seem to be higher in HK than in the US. The HK market is very strong now for luxury products so you MAY actually find a better deal elsewhere. There are lots of grey market dealers in HK. Unless you have good references or contacts, probably you will save yourself a lot of hassle dealing with the ADs direct. Good luck. |
