any other swiss automatic watches that you collect?
Maybe some lesser name brands?
I would like to learn/buy some of these watches...

Can't go wrong with Tudor.

But if you truly mean non-rolex, there are some neat old Heuer watches out there. To be honest, there is a vast ocean of swiss automatics, and I don't have the guts to dwell in collecting every brand of watch out there. There are enough Rolex models/variations to keep me busy for a lifetime.

Besides my SS Sub Date and my TT Datejust, I also have a Breitling Super Ocean Chrono. I really like it.

Is it fair to mention vintage pocket watches from the late 1800s and early 1900s? There's some great watches and some great history there; and even some Americana from that era. I enjoy them along with my Rolex.

There are many options from german to swiss , here's a little history! germany was the first country to produce wristwatches i'm glad i have a collection of both worlds....

One of the nice thing about collecting a lesser known brand is the price is cheaper... although they may just as quality watches as their more expensive counter parts.
I love watches... but lets face it, the budget is always an issue!!

Baume & Mercier and if you want something thats not too exp, you could try watches by a brand called Edourad Lauzières . My brother bought a watch from them and is pretty pleased with it. The quality is great for what its worth.

Fortis / Sinn / Oris.
All great, should be had new or gently used for (methinks) $1k to $2k. Sinn i think is somewhat rare, but not sure. Oris easy to find, Fortis too. For dealers, go to Borders and look in any magazine in the "Aviation" section, e.g. "Flying", "Flight Journal", etc.

I suspect, dep on budget, you can't go wrong with an Omega Speedmaster.

I guess part of the issue is what do you want it for, and do you plan to sell it?

I should add that after 12 years of crazy daily use, I am still stupid in love with my Tag Heuer.

I had a thing with Omega, not so long ago, had three Speedmaster (one Pro, and two Reduced chrono`s from Schumacher edition), and one Seamaster... then I had few Longines in my days...but, most of all, I like to collect interesting and inexpensive Seiko watches!
