Icon1 Urgent Question

The words "Swiss Made" appear at the 6 o'clock position on a Rolex dial. Was the single world "Swiss" ever used instead?

Yes, particularly on older models. My Cellini has only SWISS

What about on a Submariner made in 2000 with serial number beginning with "P"?

It could potentially be a Luminova dial, it sounds to be around the right kind of time, but I don't know for sure

Yes. As both posts above state, older references did indeed say "SWISS" only and for a time when luminova first appeared said only "SWISS", and,...to muddy the waters even more service replacement dial of superluminova can also say "SWISS" only.

Don't ya love Rolex.

Rolex changed over from Tritium dials (Swiss T<25) to Luminova dials in the 98/99 timeframe, so you will find P's A's and U's with a "Swiss" dial, which was used until "Swiss Made" started being the standard in ~2000.

Radium dials before 1960 also had Swiss, and some replacement service dials say Swiss, so you may find later serviced watches that way too...

edit:...Yeah...Just like MIke, the faster typist said..........!!! :)

Scott, thanks for the chart. My 57 DJ has SWISS. But, since it doesn't glow in the dark anymore, I figure I won't either.
