Dust! Dust! All I can see is dust!......

Ok, maybe it's not all that bad, but there are 2 dust particles in my 1680 sub that are driving me mad. Not sure where they came from, but for one reason or another they have taken up residence on the underside of my crystal.
One particle is just off center of the dial, and as weird as it sounds, that's what my eyes now focus on everytime I look at my watch. It's driving me nuts, and I fear my OCD is going to hit an all time high.
Please help me look past this until I need a real service. Anyone else live with these demon pieces of madness?

Have a tiny scratch on the crystal of my 16610 the size of a dot. It drives me crazy!
So, dust must be as annoying!!!

You can have your AD remove it if it is bothering you so much. But why is such a triviality bothering you? That is the larger, more important question.

There is a LOT of dust under any watch's dial. It's just too small to see for the most part. So what?

Good point. My best way to answer the "why", is that it's like the first door ding on your brand new car. You just focus on it!

Anyway, your response is helping, need to look at the bigger picture.
Thanks

You are right - there is no way that dust is getting out.

Maybe because he paid a lot of money for his watch and he wants to be under the assumption that he should get what he pays for?

I don't think it's too much trouble to ask for no visible dust particles inside our Rolexes.

Well think this one might be excused for a few dust particals after all it must have been serviced quite a few times in its 30 plus years. But it should be quite a easy fix if any AD has a in-house watchmaker.

both subs ive bought had this issue. this 1st one a 14060M brand new, had a tiny fleck of metal burr attached itself to the underside of the crystal, it would catch the light and sparkle.

the 2nd sub a mint pre-owned 16610, had a few bits of dust, dirt on a lume marker and a watermark on the underside of the crystal!

on both occasions, the dealer took the watch back and repaired it free of charge.

i have a 3rd sub arriving this week, a black 16613 bought here on the forums.. here's hoping for 3rd time lucky and problem free watch!

A certified Rolex watchmaker at your AD will be able to get it cleaned out in under 10 minutes! Piece o' cake!

I had the same problem with my LV. Sent it back to the RSC via my AD and 2 weeks later all was well and I had a new Rolex pouch to boot!

I never realized how bad quality control was at Rolex until:
- I bought one and it had dust under crystal.
- I started researching the problem and found such a large number of people affected like me.
And if you look at 10 years plus on this forum, you will see that Rolex as done nothing to correct the situation. Terrible.
