Uncomfortable moment wearing a Rolex
I was in the Sears store the other day doing some Christmas shopping. This particular store is in a not-so-good area of town.
I was paying for my purchase when the other person standing in line behind me was looking VERY CLOSELY at Bluesy, again and again, and not just admiring it to admire it, but (at least in my opinion) verifying what it was and trying to figure out if it was real. As I turned to leave with my son, I looked him straight in the eye and wished him Happy Holidays, but with a look that would hopefully make him question any nefarious ideas he might have had. I'm not usually paranoid, and have no problem wearing my watch anywhere, but his looks made me more uneasy than usual.

I think you did exactly what I would do...look him in the eyes and say something....and of course show him your firearm.

And keep your friends nearby (Mr. Smith & Mr. Wesson). There is safety in numbers.

I've had that happen before also. Just look the person right in the eyes and say the first thing that comes to mind. I also take comfort in the thought that my Glock is waiting patiently for me back in my truck should some idiot get "ideas".

Perhaps, the SMP would have been a better choice, but I went there on a whim on the way home, and while I had long sleeves and a heavy coat, it was hot in there, and while waiting in line, I pulled up my sleeves!

I know the feeling , I was on the Paris subway one evening and I took the right tram but the wrong direction . By the time I started to realize that , about 10 young guys from the suburbs had come on and stood close to me . I understood fairly rapidly that they had realized that I didn't belong there and were making up the "inventory" of what I was wearing and of course my watch ( SS . Daytona ) I luckily never found out if they knew what the watch was worth as I got off the very next station as there were plenty of CRS ( military style police ) patrolling . Can't remember ever being that happy seeing police .

In the not-so-good area of town, I will leave it in the car or put it in my pocket. Those green travel pouch will come handy.

Always good to be aware of your surroundings. People can be scum, no use pretending everyone is nice and then getting taken advantage of.

The blue sub is a very eye catching watch, usually that's a good thing but sounds like not in this case . . .

I fail to see how a gun would remedy this situation. If you get robbed, it is usually b some perp holding a gun to you. Any movement you make towards your gun will pompt him to shoot you.
I have never seen the point of carrying a gun. The best thing to do is to not walk back your car alone or right away. And if the worst happens, give him the stupid watch (it is not worth your life), log onto TRF and get a new one from DavidSW or Mosco. But thats just my opinion.

I walked the same way a few years ago on the Beira Mar in Fortaleza/Brasil with a brand new TT datejust.
Which i bought at Schiphol airport before the flight to Brasil. I felt very uncomfortable how some people looked at me. Rest of my time there left it in the safe and was walking with a swatch. (also swiss made hahaha)
