Rolex GMT II with a NON twin lock crown? What should it have or NOT have?

I was looking at a GMT II yesterday again, which I have had on layaway for a while. I noticed the crown has a line under the Rolex crown. I thought it should have had a twin lock though I am no expert in the matter.

It is a coke GMT II, serial start with a 96xxx which is 1986 or so I think. Would someone have switched the crown out perhaps? Also, the bracelet is a jubilee with slight stretch, nothing major. The end links were marked 402 or something from what I could see. Dial is tritium and hands are too, they appear original.

Any GMT experts want to chime in?

A line under the coronet signifies a Twinlock

No I dont think it does. That is my problem. LOL!

I thought it was a line for dress models, then two dots for twinlock and three dots for the triplelock models.

I remember seeing this diagram before, and according to it, two dots signifies a Twinlock on a white gold model

Glad I could help The devil's in the detail when it comes to Rolexes, takes a little while to build up the knowledge - I was in the same position myself not so long ago

Your model sounds like the 16760 GMT II. Very nice watch, the 16760. Your winding crown is correct for your watch, it should have the line under the coronet for a twin-lock.

Its cool X2. The twin lock for the GMT II SS has the coronet with a single underscore (heck, even mine)! You are good to go! Repeat, you are good to go! Enjoy that Christmas watch!!

Has Rolex ever done a platinum model with a triplock?

Good question. Just guessing, I'd say no but I'm by no means certain...
