About 50 bucks.

That's all you would need to pick up a used, 4 mp camera. Maybe even less than that.

Here are some shots taken with a camera that fits that category.

You could pick up a used Canon G2 like the one used in the shots above for less than 50 bucks!

I have seen them from 30 bucks all the way to about 120, depending on shape and amount of accessories bundled with it.
I think I bought mine in 2001.

Yeah but Chip... Pavaroti could sing the phone book and sound great... and like him, you can use a cheap camera and get awesome shots. LOL

I'm thinking a DSLR would be a nice way to rediscover my shooting. Either that, or go 100% old school and pick up a fully mechanical Nikon and stay emusion for 35mm and the PAS digital for my regular needs.

Still not sure, but I hate having my old lens' sitting around gathering dust and my old Nikon body needs a repair that would cost enough to buy a new body. Grrrrrrrr!

Great pics, Chip. But, at the end of the day, it's all in your skills that bring up such superb results!!

I purchased a 6 megapixel digi vid/cam and I guess I need to make a little lighting stage to get the best pic of my DJ. I been using my 1.3Megapixel A900 cell.

Hmmm..... what old body have you got?
I would wait until they release a full-frame. I contemplated getting a D80, but everytime I look through the viewfinder I feel like I'm blind (er). It's just so dark compared to any film body. grrrr.....
