Rolex or Breitling Website

I have been checking out major watch pages, and noticed that Rolex seems to be lacking in the marketing aspect. Take a look at Rolex. You can see pictures of the watches, but there isn't much more than that. You'd think there would be sporty videos, and music. Maybe an elegant young couple eating dinner at a candlelit Italian bistro. No...Just the watches for sale..
http://www.rolex.com/en/#/en/index
Breitling on the other hand has all of the bells, and whistles. Music, pics, video, 3D views, world clock screensaver, little noises of fighter pilot chatter here, and there. I think Breitling has a better website hands down.

What do you guys/gals think?

Rolex > Breitling They don't need to try so hard.

Came to the conclusion that the breitling site had more going for it when i compared the two recently however this does not mean the ling is a better watch!one thing i love about the ling site is the abilty to customise any watch you want ,which is very helful.

Rolex is a well-established brand that customers come to on their own, many times without any marketing influence at all. Other brands are perhaps more marketing conscience out of necessity. I suspect that Rolex is the world's best known watch brand and as such they can employ a "less is more" marketing approach.

The one thing I wish they did on the Rolex website was allow you to see every configuration that a watch is available in, not just a select few. The bells and whistles I could care less about. In fact, I find it annoying when a website has sound (and you're not expecting it).

Buy the watch, not the website.

You guys should see the Omega website. If you thought the Rolex site was boring, then you just might fall asleep at Omega.

Thuh!!

When you got one of the best known brands, known for it's luxury and durabilty in the world :

Why need to make a lot of blah blah ?

On the other side

When you got a name that was formerly known to pilots only (and a lot better then) and now uses ETA movements (except 1 then) for and idiot price...., yeah then you need some blah blah.

i think Breitling care more about their customers than Rolex. Rolex website has nice pictures and very little information about their watches. It would be nice to know the length and depth of the watch I was thinking of buying.
Breitling also have great after sales. Free gifts through the post and VIP treatment at airshows just for wearing their brand.
Do Rolex do anything like that for their customers ? I know they go out of their way to be unhelpfull with options such as bezel choice on a watch you have bought and paid for.

Breitling

I actually enjoy looking at what Breitling has to offer on their website. On the other hand, I stay away from the Rolex website. It's too difficult to use and way too slow. I own both Rolex and Breitling and enjoy looking (dreaming) of which model I would like to own next. I usually look elsewhere when looking at Rolex watches.

You think the website is "bad"....

Have you ever picked up literature on different watch brands? Breitling, JLC, Omega, IWC and others all have hard bound BOOKS. Up until last year, Rolex offered a 3 x 5 inch paper brocure....for your reading pleasure.
They just don't have to I guess.

Yup.
Rolex make very little effort at all on the web/brochure fronts & I agree with you all that they simply don't (feel that) they need to.
& let's be honest they actually don't need to 'cos we're all still buying their watches!!

Breitling has the best website in the Swiss watch industry.

Rolex's site is good, but the configurator by Breitling sets them apart!

I don't agree with those who think a brand that does well should quit competing in the marketing arena. Rolex could do better than this. If you removed the names from the watches, and website. Which would a "Blind taste test" prefer?
Rolex could and should have a better site than this. If people think of James Bond, and adventure seeking, why not have a related link. For instance when you open the Submariner, there could be a cool video of an old school diver working his way over a shipwreck. Or the Deepsea could have pics taken on different submersable vehicles.
For the dress watches, put people in tuxedo's snapping wine glasses. My wife would have been more receptive if the website had been better. We sat on the computer looking for watches. I wanted something nice for her on our upcomming anniversary. I showed her the womens watches, and it was lame. Granted I could get her a timex, and she'd be happy. Hell, an automatic uses batteries for all she knows, but still. She would have picked a Rolex if the site was better.

True, but at least, with Omega, i can email their sales/technical department...or even call them! On the Rolex site, there is nothing that i can see to contact Rolex, except their list of distributors. This is how i was able to get more info on my Hour Vision and COSC certificate.

Rolex is indeed better when it comes to site presentation...and it has music!

But, like above, Breitling site is better. Audemars Piguet is a particular good site to visit...love the videos!!!!

i don't think anyone meant that Rolex should "quit competing in the marketing area" mate.....
just that after years & years of incredibly successful marketing....they have.
